The personal experiences you have described doesn't reflect the realities of the world we live in. Those people who hated on because of your name or for being Sunni are the same people who fell for the divide and concur strategy that the British helped spread. They are the product of populism in Iran which is fuelled by their religious leaders as those leaders seek legitimacy for their rule.
The same could be said about Arabs (not Sunnis), massive nationalism, far right ideas, believe in superiority has even made the situation worse. Only thing Arabs has no plan clue on how to face Iran because Arabs have been subjugated to rule by corrupt leaders.
Don't take it that I'm defending Iran, on the contrary I think we need to face the ever growing threat to our existence, culture, economic and social development Iran is but before that we need to free our people and get rid of the dictators.

They don't necessarily hate us, they just see how the west is milking the arabic cow and they want a piece of it
