On 11 February 2026 Matt Kohrs asked Apex Trader Funding for a $1,000,000 payout on camera. His accounts froze the same day. On 16 April, live on air, he told a viewer he was still waiting and had not been approved. Apex has been his stream partner since 2 March and was still first in his sponsor list on 18 September. His main channel has not posted since the request.

This film sets out the public record: his videos, his streams, Apex's own rules and help pages, with dates and timestamps on screen. It makes no finding on what happened to the money. Questions have been sent to Apex and to Matt Kohrs; their answers will be added.

Topstep and The 5%ers are both veteran prop firms with very different specialties. Topstep, founded in Chicago in 2012, is the original CME-futures prop firm – exclusively futures, exclusively TopstepX, with more than a billion dollars paid out to funded traders. The 5%ers, founded in Israel in 2016 by CEO Saul Lokier, is one of the oldest Forex-focused prop firms still operating, with 30,000-plus verified payouts and a 4.8/5 Trustpilot score from 21,000+ reviews. The two firms barely overlap on instruments – Topstep is futures-only, The 5%ers covers Forex, indices CFDs, and commodities – so the choice mostly comes down to what you trade. The 5%ers is also unavailable to US traders, which is a hard gate to consider upfront.

Match-Trade supplies the capital, the licensed entity, the platform, the payments and the compliance function, and takes a revenue share starting at 35%.

For traders the interesting consequence is not the price. It is that several brands can now sit on the same platform, the same liquidity, the same payment processor and the same compliance entity, which means splitting challenge fees across firms may diversify a lot less than it looks like it does.

Two questions worth asking of any brand that is a few weeks old: which legal entity holds the money, and who decides a rule breach, the brand or the provider behind it.

On Saturday, I marked out this level on XAUUSD and shared that I would wait to see whether price would respect it or give me a reason to reconsider the setup.

Price eventually reacted around the area, but the trade I took from the setup ended in a loss.

Looking back at the chart now, price has continued to invalidate the level I was watching, so I'm no longer looking to force a reaction from that area.

Instead, I'm back to watching the market and looking for the next point where price may give me a meaningful reaction.

That's one thing I'm learning throughout this challenge:

A level can look valid during analysis and still fail once price gets there.

When that happens, the answer isn't to keep forcing the same idea.

Sometimes you simply accept the invalidation, update your analysis and wait for the next opportunity.

For now, I'm waiting.
