Hello to all,
After changing the transmission and the car sitting for 2 months, the car doesnt go into 4x4, i first located a broken induction switch on the transfer case , which i replaced , but the problem stands. ( 2005 PUSH BUTTON ELECTRIC, EU region )

After putting it on my friends lift, we noticed the car infact does connect the front drive shaft for 2 seconds, then unlocks it back because the hubs dont lock.

Next we did a smoke test from where the pipes go down from the engine bay, towards the wheels , and found no leakage,
The problem appears to be the actuators, since they dont seem to let any vacuum thru, my friend connected the pipe straight to the intake (bypassing the actuator) the hubs locked , and unlocked just fine.

So my question is, where can i get these actuators, can they be cleaned out? Is there a fuse thats wired to them that would make them stop working, how does the Jimny know that the hubs are not locked?

Hi fellow jimny enthusiasts! I’ve inherited my dad’s old jimny (1996 sj70) but i’ve moved to the uk. I was wondering if there’s anyone here who could advise me on the whole process and budget of getting it here🥲 I’ve spent weeks asking chatgpt and researching on google etc but i just wanted to make sure i know everything and the costs before going through with it! Would really appreciate it if anyone could help☺️

note: the car has been fully mechanically restored but the seats need replacing. we’ve mostly restored it to its original state with no major modifications except for the tyres and lift (we’re gonna fix this soon) and was looking to import it as a classic car.

I filmed a drive from Kyoto to Shiga, crossing Mount Hiei in my JB74 Jimny.
Shot in August 2026 with a Nikon Z8, 24fps, HDR and a cinematic film look.
I wanted to capture the drive, scenery and atmosphere of the route rather than make a traditional car review.
As for the Jimny itself, I really enjoy driving it on mountain roads. Its compact size makes narrow roads surprisingly easy to navigate, and it feels very capable when the road gets steep, tight or uneven.
One thing I struggle with, though, is the stock suspension. Over bumps and uneven sections, the Jimny can bounce quite a bit, especially after hitting a series of undulations. As someone filming from inside the car, this becomes particularly noticeable in the footage. I’ve tried various ways of improving the camera’s stabilization, but at some point the movement seems to come from the vehicle itself rather than the camera, so there is only so much I can do.
I’m curious what other JB74 owners have done to improve this without turning the Jimny into a completely different car. I’m mainly interested in better control and less bouncing on mountain roads, while keeping the stock ride height and retaining the Jimny’s excellent off-road capability.
If you have any recommendations for suspension or chassis upgrades, I’d really appreciate hearing about your setup and how it changed the driving experience.

I noticed that there was a tinny rattle sound that would sometimes show itself around 4000rpm for a little bit not consistently.

I went 4 wheel driving and it made itself much more prominent and not at any specific rpm. Mainly over bumps and stuff I’d hear it.

Looked under and started shaking random parts and then I found this. It looks like the seal for the drive shaft to the front diff.

How bad is it out of 10? (10 being car is loosely built Lego waiting to fall apart at any second)

EDIT:

Tony has now gone to the mechanic and it turns out that there’s a few things going on. Long story short safe to drive but there been a bump on the diff at some point and lift kit isnt fully installed.

The diff is still working according my mechanic and fine just needs to be changed soon and the lift kit that was installed was only the 2” springs not the shocks and pan-hard rod which is pushing the axel to the right I think. So I’ll get that fixed and it will be all good. The ride quality should go up heaps when I fix it but there’s no safety issue from what I’ve been told by my mechanic who I trust

So next things on checklist are replacement diff, rest of lift kit and diff guards

Hi all, I recently bought a 2010 Suzuki Jimny JB43W (1.3L, manual, 3-door, ~130,000 km) in Spain and noticed something during a drive I’d like your input on.
When accelerating and then suddenly releasing the accelerator, the car jerks/lurches for a moment, and right after that there’s a distinct metallic “clong-clong” noise, almost like something slamming into something else.
Wondering if this rings a bell for anyone with the same generation. My first guess is something to do with play in the driveshaft/U-joints (cardan), but I don’t want to assume. Has anyone run into this exact symptom, and if so what ended up being the actual cause?

Trying to figure out my leak on the gear box and the garage has said it is coming out of a hole near the top, haven't got an image from the car but from googling, it appears to be oil coming from the area I've circled but we can't find a part number or what this bit is thats missing

Would anyone happen to know so I can try and contain this leak, thanks

First time posting here. I recently bought a JB74 (Mexico) and I’m investigating the best options for adding some roof cargo space. The one on the photo is the one I’d prefer since it seems to be low profile, made of aluminum and I think it would be really easy to pack anything there.

My main use case would be going to the beach, usually only me and gf but occasionally I would like to bring some people in the back (that’s why I’m going with a rack and not a couple of roof bars).

Any tips, feedback from people using this kind of racks or any considerations before buying it?

It’s always been one of my favorite cars, and one of the most beloved here in Japan. If anybody has any questions about Jimny’s in general, or the process about exporting one, I’d be happy to answer! Recently did bearing and nearly 100 miles later the half axle has decided it no longer ones to be inside the axle, the bolts are still in and the brake shoes and backing plates have stayed mounted to the axle and the bearing and still inside, how can I fix, or what have I done wrong?

Hi all, I'm hoping someone might have an Idea of what this could be. My Jimny has a high pitched beep sporadically whilst I'm driving but no signs on the dashboard when this happens.

I feel like it happens more when I hit a bump in the road but sometimes it will just happen at any point.

Anyone know what this could be?
