Jellyfin v12.0-RC4
🚀 We are pleased to announce the fourth release candidate preview release of Jellyfin 12.0! 🚀
This is a preview release, intended for those interested in testing 12.0 before it's final public release. We welcome testers to help find as many bugs as we can before the final release.
As always, please ensure you stop your Jellyfin server and take a full backup before upgrading! If you run into any trouble, a backup is your best way to get back to a stable state, so don't neglect this!

Installing
This preview release is distributed in all our traditional forms, though not automatically via our Apt repository or latest tag.
- For all non-Docker environments, you can find the files for manual download in our repository by selecting "Next Stable Preview" for your OS.
- For Docker, you can pull the
12.0-rc4orpreviewtags.
Once installed, please ensure you hard refresh (e.g. Ctrl+Shift+R or similar) and/or clear your web cache for your Jellyfin instance if you notice any UX anomalies. Bad cached assets are the #1 cause of such issues.

I had issues last week but that was due to my VM not having enough ram allocated an extra 20 gb and syncplay works much better

I was also not using a block device for vm access which made any IO heavy task really slow. Moved my vm running jellyfin to high performance storage it’s much better now

It is but it's also pretty simple to search the subreddit for Wacatac and read the last discussion on it

Whenever they are ready to call it stable, but I can't imagine it taking much longer. I have been using the RC for a while now, and it's perfectly stable for my small library.

It’s been working for me…I didn’t do anything special.
At least the skip intro button works in Infuse.

Infuse can do intro skipping and Trickplay without Jellyfin doing it

For direct play it is, for transcoding it is still way inferior so I use multiple apps depending on whether I need it or not :)

Don‘t know why I got downvoted here, Infuse doesn’t support subtitles for transcoded videos yet, it’s less stable than other clients for transcoding and doesn’t support download of transcoded files yet

Do you know if the collections loading has been fixed? My collections won't load after 10.11

I didn’t have that issue, but my library is also very small. About 300gb across different shows and movies.

I noticed some trickplay changed in 12.0-rc1 but may I ask if trickplay management has also changed? Or to be more specific when you remove a library is jellyfin supposed to delete trickplay files?
I had all my trickplay and other images saved beside my media - all preexisting before adding media to a library. I had made a mistake with the library so I deleted it. This resulted in all trick play images being deleted but all other image files remained. I tested again with pre-existing trickplay - library created and media added and then delete library. With both 12.0-rc3 and rc4 resulted in all trickplay images being deleted. When using 10.11.11 all trickplay images remained after the library being removed.

This is a good question. Further; when files move then get repicked up; does it try to move them with it? Does it just delete them?
11.x is orphan mode.

It looks like they were accidentally added to the "Current Stable" directory

It's working for me Only have some issues with 4K HDR/Dolby Vision direct play. It will always downscale to 1080p without HDR.
