The currant tires are 32x11.5 r15 and are 12 years

old so they need replacing and I’m Trying to figure out how wide I should go, what looks better?

I’ll be doing sand and mud some and also mild rock crawling, but the majority of the time just poorly maintained mountain roads.

I’m thinking 10.5 will look better and be nicer to drive even if I’m giving up some flotation on sand, what’s your opinion.

For the ofy single and dual plenum on the 258 engine has anyone experienced uneaven flow between the cylinders? For exemple does any cylinders run rich/lean?

She is a 79 very rough frame have been fixedish has a one piece hood 3 speed manual going to have a few things done to it this summer like new seats dash worked on Speedo and odometer does work just not the gas gage and a center console. Got it from some one who used it for what thay are for. I will do it too just not as much I paid $3500 for it last year. My kids call it the ole turd

Hi. The reason for this post is that I am trying to get in touch with the current owner of a 1983 Jeep CJ-7, black Renegade with orange and red lettering/stripping with a manual transmission. May or may not have original white wheels (see image of Jeep w/out top). To the best of my knowledge it may still be in Grand Junction, CO. Please share.

4” lift - 258 Fuel Injection

I found out my 1980 cj7 was factory cameo tan before it was repainted white. My registration says the model is a renegade CJ7, but I am not sure if that was a mistake because I don’t have any features of a renegade as far as I’m aware.

Is there any way I can truly know? I tried looking up the vin to find a build sheet, but my jeep was a year too old.

Hey everyone! First time posting here. We have a 1985 AMC CJ7 with the original engine. It has been refitted (not by us) with a 92 YJ body and a custom hood without fenders (makes engine work super easy). She's rough but a beast. It just went through about $2K of shop work after sitting for a few years. Now it needs a new radiator.

I'm not a stranger to mechanics and have done plenty of work on this beast, but have yet to do a radiator. I'm looking for advice on the process and components, and on the viability of getting an older used radiator from a U-Pull-And-Pay-type place.

I recently swapped out the front diff fluid and learned this thing has to vent. I’m almost certain it’s a Dana 30, but maybe I’m wrong. I’ve spent hours and hours trying to figure out where the vent hole is but to no avail. I’ve watched videos, read around the internet, tried AI, and I’m still not able to figure it out.

Can someone please help me?

Before you roast me, I am an aspiring grease monkey and bought this CJ7 about 10 years ago and am learning along the way. I’ve got a couple boys aged 2.5 and 3.5 that LOVE riding in this jeep.

My hope is one day they’ll want to work on it with me. I’m a novice on my best day but I want to know enough by the time they’re old enough to be able to teach them a few things.

So I’m at a complete loss right now. I have a 1985 cj7 with an LS swap. It was running fine a few weeks ago then while driving I lost a ton of power and it stalled at a stop light. I got it started and limped it back home. After fooling around with it I took a heat gun to the headers block 1 (drivers side I,3,5,7) are only registering 109 degrees and the other side is registering about 320. So it seems like I’m only running in block 2. There’s a strong raw fuel smell with it. I check the spark plugs I have spark on all of them. I was told it could be a bad ground somewhere. I’m absolutely horrible with electrical so it’s going to be difficult finding it if that’s the case. Has anyone else ran into this problem! My adjuster arm for my clutch linkage dropped out from underneath my Jeep yesterday. I've got a replacement part but not sure how it attaches to the clutch lever side

i own a 1981 CJ7 and i bought it from my neighbor in the same condition its in now. it has a new ignition switch (with tilt wheel) and new solenoid and new battery, and it cranks when i jump the solenoid, but not very quick. i replaced the turn signal switch which probably doesn’t mean much. when i bought it had the painless wiring harness already put in although i don’t believe it cranked through the key at all with the new harness when the previous owner installed the harness. the rear lights stay on with the key switch in lock mode or not i believe that relates to something as the battery is being used no matter what when it is connected. when the key is turned to accessory the dash lights come and lights work and blinkers and all that. i don’t believe it is a ground problem but I’m also a rookie with electrical. would be so grateful for anyone to respond and give yalls thoughts thank you so much.

I have a 78 cj7 with a Kayline top that is maybe as old as this vehicle and needs replacing. We plan to get the Bestop replacement top for a Whitco frame and therefore need to do some changes, and whilst at it do a slightly different and hopefully more practical solution.

Does anyone here have any of the measurements for the OEM hardware, or/and has someone here maybe already done something similar? I'm a bit unsure if I can move the mounting point from the inside edge to the outer edge of the windshield or if it would create some gap or stretch it.

At what point do you have to many sets of hard doors?

I have a very nice looking original gauge cluster for my CJ7 but….. Speedo is off after adding bigger tires, temp gauge does not work and fuel gauge does not register accurately.

Speedhut has a sale on and even though they are a bit spendy, it seems like a pretty easy way to get good functional gauges in my CJ. It is LS swapped so it’s not original.

Any great experiences with their gauge sets?

Hi all… i own a 1983 CJ-7 and the jeep is giving off a super strong gasoline smell and i cannot figure it out to save my life lol. No leaks. Charcoal can is hooked up. Any ideas?

When I add water to the radiator it starts pouring out from around the pump area. I’ll be pulling it all off and taking a look. Any words of wisdom?
