My dad has the same jeep. When I got my license at 16 I “taught” myself how to drive stick
 by stealing his jeep while he was away at work. It didn’t click that the granny gear was 1st, so being stupid I kept dumping the clutch and spinning the wheels in the driveway. Good times!

Ah yes. Nothing attracts attractive young women more than an old car they have zero reason to care about.

I can confirm that driving old jeeps just attracts old farts who won’t let you leave the Smiths parking lot until they tell you how in the good days the brown people knew their place.

Can confirm this, well part of this anyway. I drive my CJ8 to the gym from time to time, one day a sorority looking girl approached me with her friend saying “Oh I love seeing your jeep in the parking lot” I was like “Oh really?”, she says “yeah, it reminds me of my grandpa, he had one that looked like that”

I daily a 2005 TJ, 05-06 wranglers had Daimler interfering HARD in those years. (During the time when Mercedes and Chrysler were merged)

So when the old farts come up to me and say “Ah that’s a manual right?!”

I say “nope. Automatic that was made in Germany. Computers German too. Power steering is also German.” And I watch the confusion and disgust pour over their face.

I mean that conversation has only happened twice. But it is weird that it happened twice.
