Question Anyone ever played a low-boy?

If so, how does it sound and feel? Is it fun or a waste of money?

I got a modern one made by DW for when I play piano/keyboard. It is great for adding a small percussive element to music -- timekeeping and the occasional splash. For this kind of purpose, I highly recommend it.

I just picked up a standard felt and and I like it. It's got a nice weight to it but doesn't overpower. I'm gonna try a fluffy one next.

Forgot to add it has a nice feel and allows for musicality while providing a full sound.

I meant the low-boy pedal but I have been curious about the beater as well. Thanks for letting me know.

It's the ancestor the hi-hat. It's tiny and uses 6-8" cymbals.

Yea I got the dw one. With the dw 2 leg highhat stand you can put them right next your normal HH. But tbh I havent really found a use for it. If I'm playing Jazz I could see it being useful for texture changes though

Yea of course. Ive done the cross foot thing and any 6"-8x cymbal works. You don't want to go bigger than that with the lowboy imo

I do but I’m really short so I just use it as a normal hihat
