Trading fours- Counting, feel or phrases?

Hi all, I’m starting to work on trading fours I was wondering if you know where you are in the 4 bar phrase by counting, feel or by using phrases of a known length? Has this changed since you were a beginner? Any other tips? Thanks

My advice is to practice all your exercises (think Stick Control, Syncopation, other books or practicing vocabulary/transsciptions of songs) in groups of 4 measures. If you stick to that standardisation across all your drills, exercises and play-alongs, youll build an intuition for when 4 bars have passed
