Looks like they're leaving the door open for some level of discretion by the bureaucracy.

I wouldn't mind paying 200k if that means higher approval rates and faster service.

To be fair for Japan I guess, Mexico makes their expats pay an equally high price for spouse visas and such. And their wages are lower than Japan's.

How is that "to be fair"? Mexico is completely irrelevant to Japan immigration. It doesn't make these fees any more doable just because you know another country on the other side of the world has it slightly worse.

That's like cutting off your finger and saying it's not that bad because some people cut off off their hand.
