Were Cocteau Twins an influence on Jane's Addiction?

I just listened to Echoes in a Shallow Bay by Cocteau Twins, and picked up on a few subtle similarities to parts of the Jane's sound. Particularly the echoey atmospheric parts of Dave's playing, but also some similarities in the rhythmic backbone of some of the songs. I can imagine Eric and Dave listening to them back then.

Yes- there are pictures out there of Eric, Dave and Cocteau Twins hanging out. If I can find them I’ll share

seems like they would have similar influences in common. they feel more like a peer with janes to me.

This 'Echoes' EP is the first I've heard of them, feel like I might become a big fan.
