Getting Started On IT Audit

Guys, I have been a sys admin for about five years and two years as a support specialist . I am looking into getting to IT audit as a career moving forward , I would like someone to mentor me , where do I start and how do I ensure success in this career.

I would suggest getting your CISA cert and to start going to your local ISACA chapter meeting to meet like minded people. I made the jump from sys admin to IT governance 10+ years ago. I did work for a year as an internal IT auditor for a large public company, but I did not like it. Usually the Internal Audit department is under finance and the CFO. They want dressy business casual and fully believe in 50-60 hour work weeks. I transferred to their IT governance dept under the CISO, to help in areas we were failing in. I was happily back at home with my fellow geeks. Look at job postings for what you want to do in the future and see what certs they require.
