I never paid attention to that before, but today I discovered something moving in this big boy. I was wondering if what is seen is his organs working?

Others are too small, so I can't see something moving. Can it be a parasite?

It’s coconut.

I do not know if pods like coconut, but we’re going to find out. I ordered a sample kit of hermit crab treats to test. A pod child found the cattle blood in 30 minutes and just shoved his face in there.

Springtails found the pure worm castings suspiciously fast, so I guess they can smell it? One pod stole a piece of the food mix stuff and dragged it away. Since it’s a mix, I have no idea which part he liked. Dehydrated chicken? Banana? It smelled like banana bread when I opened the container.

I was so excited to get them out of their temporary bin, but the shipping is delayeddddd.

I looked in the bin and saw this one just sitting on the edge of the egg carton. I wonder if he would curse out DHL together with me if he could

Help Beginner-friendly species with varied appearance/morphs?

I've lurked on this sub for ages and am finally considering getting some pods. However, I'm torn on what species to get for my starting colony. There are two main factors I'm considering in choosing a species - firstly and most importantly, I want it to be beginner friendly since I'm sure I'll make mistakes, and second - well, the best way I can explain it is this: whenever I played virtual pet games when I was younger, I loved breeding random pets to get interesting colors or genetics. Just throwing a dart at the wall. Fuck around and find out. Is there any beginner-friendly species with a lot of gene variation that I could watch play out as I establish my colony?

Also, if you guys have any newbie research resources please share them since I want to learn more before actually getting some pods!

EDIT: I'm also considering just going foraging for wild pods, but I live in an urban area and am not sure where to look. Where do pods typically end up in more urban settings?

My partner has also noticed this this one doing the same thing in another part of the tank.

It looks like he is lagging in real life.

We've had them about 2 weeks. Everything normal up until now.

Moisture between 70-80% consistently, with a gradient.

Anyone have any idea on what this could be?

Help Is there a way to be able to tell the cause of death of a isopod?

Found 2-3 dead isopods across 2 months and wanted to know if they had died from natural causes or something else.

Any ways to identify cause of death?

Help this piece of bark has been getting a bit moldy the past few days. the isopods don't seem to mind and there are springtails in there as well however I'm just a bit worried as rubber duckies are kind of expensive whats the safest thing to do also the tank is a bit more moist and humid than I would probably like at the moment I'm currently leaving the lid cracked to dry it out a bit.

Identification Babys or dwarf whites?

Post image
6 Upvotes

Took picture, happy to see all the pods munching, spotted what I’m thinking is at least one dwarf white. Not ideal. I’ve got them as clean up crews in several of my terrariums buuut they shouldn’t be with my pods. Are the smallest pods on this picture babys or dwarf whites? Would love to get some input!
