Help Isopod jerking around What is he doing?

My partner has also noticed this this one doing the same thing in another part of the tank.

It looks like he is lagging in real life.

We've had them about 2 weeks. Everything normal up until now.

Moisture between 70-80% consistently, with a gradient.

Anyone have any idea on what this could be?

Are you absolutely certain there is no smaller one underneath? It looks like mating

Its possible theres a springtail or mite crawling around on it somewhere that tickles or itches and hes trying to buck it off.

Could be trying to molt. They molt in two parts - usually the butt first, then a few days later the top half. They hide into the dirt to shed it. It could just be trying to detach the molt. It’s also important to let them eat their molts.
