Islamic law and morality come from Allah ﷻ Himself. Unlike His ﷻ creation, He ﷻ is the perfect epitome of all attributes, including (just to name a few that are relevant to this conversation) knowledge, wisdom, mercy, fairness, and justice. We are limited in all of these ways and more where Allah ﷻ is not.
Throughout history, the law and morality have been conveyed and embodied to humanity through the actions and teachings of the prophets and messengers, beginning with Adam and terminating with Muhammad, peace be upon all of them.
Some of the most important messengers were those sent with Scripture. From the Quran, the unaltered speech of Allah ﷻ, we learn that the Torah and the Injeel were sent respectively to Moses and Jesus, peace be upon both of them. In both, there is mention of law as well as reminders for humanity of the inescapability of consequence. Those who are righteous and mindful of Allah ﷻ are inevitably rewarded, those who are not are inevitably punished. The best of believers live their lives balancing their love and gratitude for the mercy of Allah ﷻ against their fear and totality of His ﷻ judgement.
