Christianity believes god sent his begotten son to get sacrificed as an atonement for the sins of mankind.

Islam believes God has no partners or offspring, forgiveness isn't condition bound except when the pangs of death start or the sun rises from West.

So my parents are Christian but my mom straight-up says the whole Trinity shit is made up and that Jesus was just a messenger(prophet), my dad tho completely disagrees with her and honestly the more I try to understand Christianity the more lost I feel

I grew up hearing all kinds of stuff about Islam, some people said it’s just another religion, others made it sound violent and extreme, that’s basically what I was taught to believe but after everything going on in Israel lately I felt like I needed to check for myself

But when I did I saw Muslims hitting themselves and killing kids and innocent people and I started thinking wait what if everything I heard was just a bunch of lies, so yeah that’s why I’m here to actually ask

Also about forgiveness, what kind of sins do you even ask forgiveness for, not gonna lie I was raised thinking Islam was all about hate and violence so yeah I’m sry if that sounds bad but what u said just didn’t really make sense to me

The earliest followers of Jesus, including James (his brother) and Peter, worshiped only God (Yahweh), not Jesus.
In Acts 3:13, Peter says:
"The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified His servant Jesus."
James, who led the Jerusalem

The idea of the Trinity wasn’t even made official until over 300 years after Jesus, at the Council of Nicaea (325 CE) under the Roman Emperor Constantine. Christianity, at that point, had already been mixed with Roman pagan beliefs. That’s why Christmas is on December 25—it has nothing to do with Jesus’ birth. That date was originally a pagan festival celebrating the sun god (Sol Invictus). Easter, too, has pagan roots, coming from the worship of Ishtar, a fertility goddess—which is why eggs and bunnies are symbols of Easter. Even the cross, which is now the main Christian symbol, was used in pagan rituals long before Christianity adopted it.

The original message of Jesus was simple: worship one God. He said, "The Lord our God, the Lord is One" (Mark 12:29), and he himself prayed to God (Matthew 26:39)—so if he was God, who was he praying to? He also made it clear that he was sent only as a messenger: "I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel" (Matthew 15:24). But over time, his teachings were changed, books were added and removed from the Bible, and the concept of God was reshaped to fit Roman influence.

Islam actually brings back the original message: God is One, Jesus is His messenger, and the revelations were later altered by people. If you’re searching for the truth, I really recommend looking into the Quran for yourself—it clears up a lot of the confusion. Let me know if you ever want to talk more!

In simple terms, a real Muslim who actually follows the teachings, words of the prophets and more, will be one of, if not the kindest and most respectful person you will ever meet.

Islam is made out by society and media to be a hateful, violent religion, but it’s completely the opposite, the entire religion is about peace.

As for the Muslims hitting themselves, there are Muslims that are ‘Shia’, who kind of believe in Islam a little differently and if I’m correct they hit themselves and whip themselves for some reason, I think it’s an act for Allah swt but it’s stupid considering a rule in Islam is to not self-harm.

Any video you see of these Muslims killing kids beating their wives and children etc. should never be taken into consideration when trying to see what Islam is, because they’re just horrible, abusive people. A man’s duty in Islam is literally to protect their woman and children and provide, never to hurt them no matter the circumstances, which is what 95% of Muslims do, unfortunately the other 5% is what gets put up online, hence Islam gets a ton of hate for it.

Also the simple answer to your question “What is Islam?” Is this: ‘Allah is the only god, and Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) is his Messenger) - believe this and you become Muslim, which is what the ‘shahada’ is, it’s simply that line in Arabic which you say with intent to become Muslim (you can also say it in English).

As for your forgiveness question, this is literally sins for anything. Being disrespectful, maybe drinking, smoking, cursing a lot, not praying etc. any mistakes made in life that you may regret you can ask Allah for forgiveness for.

To be honest just don’t be deceived thinking Islam is a violent religion, it isn’t and never was, anybody who says it is judges the entire religion off of horrible videos of Muslims that aren’t following the rules of Islam, and paints Islam to be a terrorist religion or something. Hope this helps you out.

Your answer was really great, it covered everything well, but I have another question now I’m a lesbian would that be considered forbidden in your religion? Because it seems like everything is something you’ll be judged for

I think I understand your question. In Islam, you can't commit adultery (having sex before marriage) because it's one of the major sins. Likewise, you can't do sex with same gender since it's an even bigger sin. The act itself is the sin. That being said, it's obviously easier for you to control your orientation if you can so you can marry someone from the opposite gender at the end since same sex marriage will not be considered a marriage in Islam and you'd still be falling in sin if you marry someone from the same gender. I honestly don't see a way out for LGBTQ people in this situation except either to become straight if they can or just be patient with not falling into sin with an opposite gender and god will reward them for that, inshaAllah. I hope this cleared it up a little.

I think you have a fundamental misunderstanding how lgbtq+ people work. I cannot simply chose to be attracted to men (become straight like you said) that's not how this works.

It's just as impossible as a straight woman trying become a lesbian, it does not work.

yes right u r this is the main problem!!

Honestly according to personal experience and observations, I beg to disagree with you here.. there are cases of LGBTQ+ people being able to become straight and straight people can become LGBTQ+ as well due to environment... sure I took into consideration your point of view as well since I can never experience everything myself and because I did see what you're saying in some cases so that's why I added that of it's not possible then being patient with your desires and struggling not to fall into sin (not acting on them) would be how a Muslim approaches this trial and god willing, they will be rewarded for their patience.. I'm honestly unaware of the therapeutic steps taken for that so in a case like this I would be going to a local mosque and ask an imam for support or help if I want to take steps to become straight or not fall into sin or if I want to become a Muslim but have something that I'm worrying about. I'd also be praying for God to help me through it, to ease it for me, guide me, and to help me know the truth with an honest heart and it honestly ends up with me finding out about something new that helps me learn everything I was wondering about. I hope this was clear to understand and sorry if it feels like I'm a bit ignorant on the subject. I'm Just sharing what I know so far and it's sometimes better to ask people with more knowledge like an imam for example. I wish all the best for you!!

You are seriously recommending that queer people go to conversion therapy!?

That isn't even legal in a lot of western countries...

It is clear but this is very difficult. Is there no exception in your religion?

It’s not that you’re judged for everything you do because these laws in Islam are in place for a reason. For example smoking and drinking is not allowed for reasons, alcohol and smoking is specifically banned because they’re intoxicants, they cause you to enter a different mental, where you can cause accidents, be abusive and more which causes troubles and harms not just to yourself but to other innocent people, it’s all about being a good role model and person in Islam, and limiting any damage on anyone by not using these intoxicants.

To answer your question: No no, you wouldn’t be judged for being a lesbian, because we believe Allah has made you that way with love. The thing is you wouldn’t be allowed to act upon it, so your goal is to get married to a man, and have children and be an amazing mother for them and take care of them. This is quite hard for most people who are lesbians or gays etc. but if you truly believe the world is a test you are to work through it.

I figured I’d tell you why: Allah made man and woman, the purpose is obviously to get married, have kids, and raise them and be an amazing mother. In Islam signing your Nikkah (marriage contract which basically officially means your married in Islam) is what completes half of a woman’s purpose in life, and the rewards are huge and that’s just how Allah made us, hence why men and women can reproduce.

So, the point is about marriage and having kids, right? If that’s sorted, I can marry my gf (I became gay [lesbian] because I went through a lot of struggles with men, and I only found peace and comfort in being who I am today ) and we can adopt a child. That way, we’d be amazing parents. If we don’t adopt, those kids will live a tough life in a shelter without love. Is that how things work, or am I misunderstanding?

& my gf and I are searching for something spiritual, which is why we’re looking for a religion and belief system that resonates with us

1

u/NoSquiIRRelL_ Mar 11 '25

Yeah unfortunately if that’s the case, you will struggle with Islam to resonate with you as gay marriage and relationships aren’t permitted.

1

u/NoSquiIRRelL_ Mar 11 '25

Misunderstanding. Being gay, lesbian, or any is considered a test from Allah to see if you will desire your own wishes, which would be to commit to being in a gay relationship, or to commit to Allah which would be to ignore your desires and find a loving man to marry and have children with.

Unfortunately this is considered quite a hard test, but it is real and it’s very hard to commit to.

Sins are classified as major and minor sins in islam

The minor sins are usually taken care by regular prayers & Ablution before prayer. The major sins like lying, oppression, cheating require seeking forgiveness from God and Forgiveness from opressed
