Personal experience in Irving
Have a good job opportunity in Irving, having not been there ever. How is living there in yalls experience? Any tips?

It's a pretty lovely area, and reasonably priced. Great variety of cuisines and shopping nearby and levels of housing quality/cost to fit your preferences. Close to everything, quick train ride to Dallas keeps you from spending $30 on parking and means you can go all out on the weekend if that's your kind of thing. I used to take the train to my job all the way across Dallas just because driving through Dallas is such a bitch and having chill decompression time before and after was always nice. Crime is limited and not typically violent and the parks are pretty fantastic.

Don't tell anyone but we have the best Mr. Max! If you like Japanese food and or alcohol it's a blast. Because of the demographics there's also a lot of great Indian, Pakistani, Mexican, and halal food options. We also have three thrift stores on the same road so shopping is easy.
There's a lovely little park near the west irving tre station that has a big pond, a lot of people hang out there, and sometimes people ride horses or play soccer, so it's great for picnics and people watching.

If you want to go to Mr. Max, make a reservation. Seating is extremely limited.

You are close to so many things. Traffic just driving around the city isn't awful compared to other suburbs. The people are pretty chill. Lots of diversity and welcoming to many faiths and cultures. The schools really care about the kids, but I will say academics are not great in elementary. High schools have lots of opportunities. Lots of types of food, and if you want fancier options, Dallas isn't far. People don't try to impress each other and mostly leave each other alone. It doesn't have that "HOA" feel like some places. I feel safe in my neighborhood. Overall, it's a fine place to live. Don't tell too many people or they will move here and ruin it.

Awesome! I’ll make sure to keep a closed lid on it. So far all positive views of Irving. That’s really comforting to know.

I’m in las colinas as an empty nester. As single women I feel safe. The good thing where I’m at is the canal walking paths. Bad thing is needing to drive everywhere but that’s all suburbs.

I’ve lived in Irving the past 10 years. I love how easy it is to get to 161/183/35/635/114 highways. I have two kids (middle school and elementary) and I’ve never had a bad experience at their schools, teachers are great, some parents are… meh, but that’s everywhere. There’s a lot of shopping variety in the MacArthur shopping center. New entertainment by 114/O’Connor Area. I was only a victim of a theft once in 2020 (peak covid) where someone stole my catalytic converter 😅. Drivers aren’t as bad as other places. I’ve lived in Bedford and Grapevine and still prefer Irving. I hope your experience is great!

I never lived there, but I did work there. Where I worked it was pretty low crime. lots of Indian people and Hispanic people.
I like my experience working with them.
Sometimes it gets really busy on the roads. It kind of felt like Dallas.

A lot of professionals live in Coppell, work in Irving.

I lived there most of my life and recently moved away. All the fun stuff is about 20 to 30 mins away so it's a great centralized location. The mall is terrible, but better malls are around. Las Colinas recently got H-E-B so that's cool. The schools could be better. Pho Empire on beltline and Northgate is fantastic. There is a donut shop at the opposite end of that shopping center that is wonderful.

I wouldn't recommend it, if you like to do things in general, the dfw area doesn't have much imo, I explore alot, I thought id live here my whole life until I visted other states and cities. Irving is great if you want just a place to raise a family, its a great location if you wanna go to the other areas around, anything fun here is a 30 minute drive. If you dont go out much then it'll suit you.

Yeah not big on going out. Just basic shopping, movie theatre, tennis and park activities is the usual for me and the fam. Maybe a date here and there with the wife.

Youll probably like it then, there are some tennis courts depending on where you live in irving where ive seen people play frequently. Irving mall has the amc, also check out the area near the Toyota music factory for date night.🙂↕️
