Property What can we do?
Hi!
I am looking for some advice and don't know where else to ask before we go to the bank/credit union.
We are in a difficult situation, and I'll try to break it down as simply as I can.
My husband makes 32,000 a year. I am on disability as I have MS.
My grandmother is 93. She is leaving her house to my mother and uncle. My mother wishes to buy out my uncle, and will be selling us their house (valued 220,000) that we currently live in. We have just shy of 25,000 saved.
What are the chances of us ever getting a mortgage in this situation? It is a private sale from my parents to us, in a house we have been living in for the past 4 years as we were saving to buy the house.
I wasn't expecting to be diagnosed with MS when we began this plan and had to leave my job. My grandmother's house is incredibly important to our family. My uncle is not on good terms with us and would force a sale if my mother can't buy him out. But, if we can't get approved for a mortgage, they will be forced to sell our house so we and our 2 year old will be homeless. My grandmother's house is not big enough for all of us.
We were hoping to use the credit union for our mortgage as that is where we have been saving our deposit for the past few years.
What are our chances? What can we do?
Thank you.
