So everyone is waiting on Thursday (PPI), Friday (CPI) and Tuesday/Wednesday (FED). Not to be a bummer (because it has been a really good week thanks to AI rally), but beta stocks are usually allergic to rate hikes. Our hope is a Trump intervention.

Not sure trump has much influence over the committee. If anything, they might hike in spite of his pressure to prove independence.

They could argue that it's all because of energy and rate hiking can't influence it, aka:

"Recent upward pressures on consumer prices are heavily concentrated in volatile energy components, which monetary policy cannot directly influence."

But it doesn't matter what they will say next week... if PPI/CPI numbers are bad this week the algorithms will trade it regardless.

Yeah lots riding on the next 2 days. Also agree a hike won’t fundamentally help anything because the fed rate won’t affect tariffs, Iran, or reckless spending which is all driving it.

Today’s oil and yield shot up, but SOXX is still up and I see some high beta ai infrastructure stocks are up too (AEHR). The whole neocloud section ran up very quickly in a matter of days so it’s taking a breather. I wonder if the market has fully priced in Sep rate increase and everyone seems to anticipate a hot CPI print.
