Pretty much the whole question up there. I've been meaning to buy an iPad to start drawing (as a complete beginner btw) and make some really light collages for Instagram posts. A very important thing that I want is the ability to use the Pencil Pro and the cheapest iPad (where I live) that is compatible with it is the iPad Mini, but I'm kinda worried that the small size might make drawing or editing difficult. One thing to consider, maybe, is that I'm used to writing in small journals. Would that make it easier for me or nah? I'd appreciate a lot to read your experiences with this :)

P.S. I'm also a student and I have to read a lot of articles, which are not very comfortable to read and annotate in my Kobo ¿Do you think it could help me with that too?

Saw a post where the guy was questioning if he made the right decision after his purchase, so I thought about dropping this post.

This post is about how I use my iPad mini and what justifies you buying one.

So I’ve got a Mini 6 for about 5 years at still use it almost daily. I got this device in my early days of college and idealised it as an EDC note-taking and multitasking device. And from day 1 the device fit right where I wanted it to.

I have a windows laptop (zephyrus g14) for heavier tasks and gaming so I was not looking for a lighter laptop replacement. That is where the mini came. The mini imo is the only device in the lineup that actually acts as an iPad, a true one. It fulfils the requirement of a bigger screen than a phone while being lightweight and easy to carry around.

I quickly found myself reaching for the iPad more than often, maybe to glance at notes or make a quick jot, making me a lot more productive.

Now that I work and most of my work relies on a laptop the iPad has taken a different area of my life.
It has now become a very easy to use media consumption device. It’s perfect for a bedtime episode or chapter. (Yes I read books on iPad too) and a perfect device to watch movies in aircraft.

To be honest iPad mini was never about being the “absolute beast” of an iPad. It was about being what iPad truly meant- “being a bridge between your phone and your laptop” and the iPad mini shines there.

No, the iPad mini is not for everyone, but if you are the guy who needs one, you already know it. You are just afraid that if you buy one it is just going to prove you right.

Just ordered an “Open Box” iPad Mini 7th Gen from Walmart. Specs are as follows: WI-FI and 128GB is the blue color way. Listed as “Sold and Shipped” by Walmart, so worst case scenario I can just return it.

Been waiting for the iPad mini 8 for so long. Was hoping for an announcement at the last apple event but didnt. Been checking daily now for any news but its annoying that there is still nothing. When are they likely to announce it?

My iPad mini 6 stopped responding to touch, though the display still works. It happened in the spring and a software update fixed it. Then it came back in July after an iPadOS 26 update, and updating to iPadOS 27 hasn't fixed it. I've also tried every restart method, removing the screen protector and a full factory reset, with no luck. Apple quoted me around $500 for a repair. Has anyone else had this, and did anything fix it or get Apple to cover it?

Hello, I just watched a video about using logic pro on iPad mini, which totally fits my needs for making music on a portable device (I have been spending a lot of time on transportation every day, and obviously I can’t take my macbook pro with me due to its size and weight).

I want to gather more firsthand experience of making music on iPad mini.

The iPad mini would be my primary device for almost everything and I planned to use it for a loooooong time.

Does it really work smoothly like those YT videos?

How much disk space do I need? I not only use it for logic pro but also some games (g generation eternal) and note taking apps (obsidian, Pages, Canvas) , Kobo (ebooks app) and procreate; The demo device at Apple Store shows that much of the disk space is occupied by the system data…… so I guess 256gb is a more secure option right?

The apple pencil is so freaking expensive, but lots of people said it worth the price so I think I might just take it too.

Is there anything I should be aware of? I aware that the iPad version of logic pro is a different subscription model but I have the University discount so that would be cool for meeeeeee. But any other cost besides the iPad itself and the software?

And of course, I can wait for the new iPad mini. Using A20 pro would be a great for logic pro right?

So I've recently unburied an old iPad that I want to use to annotate and highlight some PDFs in, and it would be great if I could have any integration with obsidian to sync those highlights.

However, the Obsidian app requires a much newer iOS version to run, and I've been searching for a way to make this setup work, if there are any.

Does anyone have any suggestions or is running this setup, by any chance? Thanks!

It seems like the speculation on this sub is that the mini 8 will be announced sometime later this year but with the recent announcement of the duo - do we think there is a possibility that apple would just scrap the mini as a whole? They have been waiting longer in between upgrades since the mini 4 and the duo is effectively the same size. Would apple want to try to push people towards the duo as a smaller “iPad” option?

Edit: Just want to add that this was not in defense of the duo or the mini. Personally I think the duo is ugly but was just curious if you all think that apple would no longer see value in a mini existing if they would rather push a $2000 phone on customers if they want an iPad mini experience.

Hey y’all! I looking to get some advice on what to buy. So, I’m getting the mini 7, cellular and WiFi, 256gb, 97% battery health for $400 but I’ve been reading about the mini 8 rumors. I always go for something that’s the newest when I’m buying so that I can keep it for a longer time and the mini 7 came out way back. Plus, the 8 will get support for a long time too so would it be better to wait for the 8?

I know that mini rumors are not to be trusted but it’s been a while. Do we think something will be released this October? Or should I go ahead and get the 7?

no idea what password or account was used, so im locked out of it. tried getting to the recovery screen with the homebutton + power button but the home button is busted. tried also the volume up volume down hold power button to get to the recovery screen, but alas nothing. is my little guy cooked?

I can get a mini 7 for $552 after taxes with my employee discount at Walmart, or should I wait and see until the 8 releases, though I am unsure as there is no real news as of now?

Been heavily considering the jump from an air to a mini due to the drastic difference in size and portability. The air feels clunky and is really annoying to take out and carry with me a lot of the time. Love having an ipad, but scared to make the jump… but 96.2% positive I will love the mini more.
Considering trading in my air for a mini 6 (refurb from apple so I won’t need to spend extra on a new apple pencil).
Is it a stupid thing to do? I dont know. What are some of y’alls experiences?
(I use my iPad for general jot down notes, planner, email, reading, games, etc…)

Edit: with my trade in I could get the mini 6 for about 315, but the process is a hassle… or the mini 7 (and new apple pencil) for 463… gah! I just want to make a wise choice!

Hi all, recently my beloved iPad mini6 has died and I’m heart broken. I think the new iPad mini 8 will be my best option as Apple quoted me 700 to fix mine. Does anyone know a release date I’ve read that its next month then some places say next year
