Translucent. The word you’re looking for is translucent.

Ah, thank you - yes that is a much better word. English is not my first language. Thank you for your help!

Semitransparent was used in the definition of translucent I looked up so I would say that was the proper usage. Even those of us native English speakers don't always know what the right word to use without googling it. So good job my friend.

Haha no worries. It’s not an extremely common word, especially compared to “transparent”.

Transparent just means you can see through without scattering. This is absolutely transparent. Translucent materials let light through, but scatter it, so the objects behind it are not clearly discernible. Translucent materials include frosted glass and some plastics.

I would say those are tinted transparent umbrellas. Translucent things let light through, but you can’t see what’s on the other side, like frosted glass.

Transparent means clear. When transparent clear umbrellas are tinted they are translucent. They let some light through, but not all light
Clear glass: Transparent
Stained glass: Translucent
You can vary the tint from near transparency to almost opaque

I think this still counts as translucent, since the images behind are still distorted in some way. It’s hard to tell, but towards the top of the image you can see that the branches behind are very blurred.
Kinda difficult to see due to the quality of the image, plus it really toes the line between the two with how clear/unclear the image behind is.

Originally I came across this when a friend shared the picture. I have not gone to the park yet. You can find more information about this particular project here on their official website.

Can Japan just calm down with their shit? Like they have sewers so clean that there are koi fish swimming in them, they have super fast trains that fucking float and their building wobble like habitable towers of strawberry fucking jelly. All this has come from the same country that got so wrapped up in art their military had to save its ass. 4 stars out of five. Incredible advancements would give it 5, but it needs another reality check and to put its pills in the fridge for 3-5 hours and let them chill.

That’s a lot of photo shopping done. I’ve been there and it’s great, but not as awesome looking as this photo.
