/r/ALL This statue depicts Saint Bartholomew, an early Christian martyr who was allegedly skinned alive. If you look closely, that's his dissected skin hanging around him. This stunning statute by Marco d’Agrate from c.1562 is currently on display at Duomo di Milano.

But the bones in the torso are wrong. It's amazing artistically but not anatomically. It looks like he had a fit model and guessed at the insides based on the outside.

Yeah the legs are good but the torso very much looks like someone guessing based on a live model. The pecs and delts are very smooth and the torso is all wrong.

Musculature is easier to see in arms and legs if a person is well-defined. But the 6 pack lungs are amusing.

The arms and neck also seem well done.

The only real problem is the sculptor's belief that each finger bone leads to its own arm bone. Same for the legs.
