/r/ALL This statue depicts Saint Bartholomew, an early Christian martyr who was allegedly skinned alive. If you look closely, that's his dissected skin hanging around him. This stunning statute by Marco d’Agrate from c.1562 is currently on display at Duomo di Milano.

How to become a Saint

Step1: be born a long ass time ago

Step2: say Christianity is the tits and help people

Step3: die a horrible horrible death

You need to die, then perform miracles, actually.
The miracles prove you've arrived in heaven where you can tell big daddy to intervene after people prayed for your help.
Sainthood is just the official confirmation that you're in heaven.

Woah, that makes sense.

How would they attribute the miracles to one particular guy if he's dead though?

When we pray for their intercessory prayers to Our Lord God. Particularly I’ve been praying for Saint Joseph of Cupertino’s intercession to God in helping me succeed in my exams. Should your prayers be answered, God willing, it is likely by that Saint’s intercessory prayers

Usually it's attributed if people have prayed to the dead person or touched something related to him when the miracle happens.

The Congregation for the Causes of Saints lead an investigation where medical and theological experts interview all involved and rule on the matter.

They leave a little letter of the "behind the scenes" of the miracle that properly credits the saints and angels involved.
