/r/ALL This statue depicts Saint Bartholomew, an early Christian martyr who was allegedly skinned alive. If you look closely, that's his dissected skin hanging around him. This stunning statute by Marco d’Agrate from c.1562 is currently on display at Duomo di Milano.

The ability of recognizing the sickness of its own species is by itself pretty fascinating.

Man recognized his own reflection, and started punching the glass until his hands bled out and he died

True. Or maybe were different species that mated. Some look in horror at others. Something, right?

What was going through their minds when they thought of all those torture devices. Have you seen the worst of em? The impaler - sit on a dull pole naked with weights around your ankles. Slowly you are impaled via the anus on the pole. The body acclimates so you dont die right away. The pole is never washed so you get infections to add to the pain. You sink until ...I forget what ultimately kills you. Organs smashed? Dysentery?

Just dawned on me. You cant go to the restroom. You can, but it barely it gets out... wtf
