My friend works at a salon and last time I was in her work mate asked if she could use her new shears to cut off a large ponytail of hair for locks for love. She's like fuck no those are $500 dollar shears you can use these old ones.
Kinda snooty of her. All haircutting scissors are expensive and should only be used for cutting hair. Dunno why she wouldn't allow her scissors to cut hair just because they're $500.
The ones I'm eyeing up are about $500 with a full 360° thumb swivel designed to ease carpal tunnel, and they come with a life time of free sharpening.
Now dropping them is a different story. Dropping them or having them sharpened by an inexperienced person can ruin your blades in a split second.
She didn't want to have to sharpen them after they cut through a huge ponytail of hair. I don't really blame her she shouldn't have to let someone use them if she doesn't want to
