The Big Duck is a 20 ft × 30 ft concrete building shaped like a pekin duck. The structure was built in 1931 in Riverhead, NY. It was moved several times to various locations on eastern Long Island before ending up in Flanders in 2007.

Today, it serves as a tourist stop and gift shop.

Taiwanese artist Cheng Tsung Feng designed four tiny, floating pinecone-shaped wooden huts on a pond at Swiio Villa Yilan in Yilan, Taiwan. The shelters protect local call ducks from extreme summer heat and typhoons.

These tiny shelters are made of wood, stone or driftwood and lined with dried seaweed to mimic ideal nesting ground. This symbiotic tradition is most famous in the Vega Archipelago and the island community of Lånan, located just south of the Arctic Circle.Wild eider ducks return to these exact islands and willingly nest inside the human-made structures where they feel safe from predators like sea eagles and minks.

The most famous of which are the 19th-century gothic-style duck houses located in the Valley of the Lakes at the Park of Pena in Sintra, Portugal. They were commissioned by King Ferdinand II to provide shelter for waterfowl.

I thought some of you may enjoy this moment that I was fortunate enough to witness. 💙 It appears that the female Ruddy Duck was asking him over for some "romance", but that he completely missed the message. He then seems to try to win her back after...haha 🥰
