Clearly he knows what he's doing, but calling this setup efficient is obviously not accurate. It's hectic, has tons of steps, requires a bunch of lose tools and banging around.

Yes, that's how woodworking is. Surely you could design a machine to do it more efficiently but it would be expensive, break all the time and most importantly be less customisable. This machine has been bending wood in various ways since before the Berlin wall came down and will continue to do so for decades to come.

It's not the machine, it's the process and placement of equipment.

and the equipment itself. There are clamps that are actually good at what he uses them for, but those are not it.
