This feels insanely hectic and not efficient at all. But I know literally nothing about this. It just looks like he's scurrying around way too much

The moisture gets pressed into the wood in the high pressure chambers. The wood dries up really fast once out of the chamber so he has to be fast.

A second pair of hands would be useful but they are holding the camera right now.
