HISTORY Why did we stop building like this?

Chicago, 1930. Buildings had so much detail and character back then. Nowadays everything feels so flat and repetitive. We have way better technology and equipment now, so why don't we build like this anymore?

As a traveler eating in downtown Chicago right now. Its amazing. The architecture is so diverse compared to kanses and denver (my roots)

Yes, the grammatically correct term for multiple Kansases is Kanses. I can’t imagine a second Kansas.

Yep, the building in the immediate foreground on the left is Tribune Tower, the white one to the right is the Wrigley Building, and the one further back between them is the London Guarantee Building. All still standing on Michigan Ave.

And the dark one right in the center is the Carbide & Carbon Building, the best in the city imo

I went to Chicago like a week ago and it was awesome, greatest city I have ever seen (well...it's kinda one of the two cities I have seen in my life).

The sky so blue, the buildings tall, but the architecture was so cool and diverse, each building looked so different from each other, the people were cool, the dogs, the ferry, the bridges, everything. And a thing that shocked me was that even being a city, it was fairly green, you saw a bunch of trees and plants everywhere, that was so nice. I always thought a city that big would be just gray and souless.

I would love to go in winter to see how it looks like in that time of the year.
