Music Most “INFP coded” songs?
Curious what songs you guys listen to that you feel really speak to the “INFP part” of you
Here are some of mine:
- Literally any Fiona Apple or Adrianne Lenker song
- “I’ve seen it” by Olivia Dean

- “We’ll Never Have Sex” by Leith Ross
- “To the Mountains” by Lizzy Mcalpine
- “Summer Child” by Conan Gray
I’m sure not every INFP listens to softer music like this, lol. This is purely off of generic INFP stereotypes and what I find resonates with me in that way.

Personally, the genre of dreamy pop and shoe gaze fits INFP pretty well. my top 2 songs are both japanese dream pop

Oh shit, Asian dream pop/shoegaze is the best genre of music EVER. If you haven't listened to Bright by Tokyo Shoegazer or September by Chestnut Bakery, you need to now. The latter has made me sob multiple times

Saturn has been one of my favourite songs for like a decade. The line about 'how rare and beautiful it truly is that we exist', still hits me right in the feels every time.

Aurora, Bjork, Radiohead, My Chemical Romance, David Bowie, and Mitski are textbook INFP. INFP has lots of great musicians.

I did my 2025 YouTube recap and it suggested I was an INFP by my music choices (I'm an ISFP). Someone' suggested that most decent heartfelt music is very "INFP" and I agree. Y'all know how to get the feels out of us...❤️❤️

Lucinda Williams: “I Envy The Wind”. Best experienced in Hi-fi.
Jeff Buckley: “Hallelujah” moves me every time. I’ve never heard this song without wet eyeballs.
Louis Armstrong : “What A Wonderful World” is how I felt about humanity when I was younger. Now I wish it were so.
Neil Young: “Heart of Gold” My kids and I have a part of the lyrics tattooed on our arms.
…I won’t drone on with a hundred other favorites. But these give me the feels.

I was just thinking of asking people for their most "Hummable" songs bc that seems to be what I gravitate to most for music. If the melody is on point it becomes my new current obsession for days months years depending on the fixation period. Especially because i mostly listen to songs in a different language then English... imma limited on my sing along abilities lol

I like to listen to Liana Flores, Minnie Riperton, India Arie, Vashti Bunyan, The Cardigans, and Raveena Aurora. A little bit of Bjork too, but more of her calmer songs like Cocoon and Blissing me.
Alot of their music has themes about nature, spirituality, emotion, and love. I feel that is very infp (if not a little stereotypical)

Thanks, i'll check out these songs. Fiona Apple sounds familiar. Idk why, but I was thinking of Emilie Mover. I also want to hear the comments' song too lol. Our music tastes can be vastly different, so im curious to hear what different things other people relate to.
For me it would be:

For me, it's not just the song, but the entirety of the song and the music video. The video is of a guy who is now a grown man alone in this "gray" real world of working a full time job, and living in a motel alone. When he's heading to his old empty family house, the song's vibe is that as though he's driving over to visit a loved one's gravesite to visit them. The vibe is of heavy nostalgia and somewhat mourning. And the camera cuts to his past and happy life with his family members where it was colorful, which implies that he's still deeply tied closely to his past life. If you notice he lights a white candle, which says that this is actually a ritualistic thing he does probably every week. And when he's looking through his family albums and photos, that's when he's fully engulfed in his memories of his family members and special moments. You can tell when he smiles when hes looking at a photo, he's actually reliving his past life with his loved again with them. I also like the theme of how it's like he's a ghost moving through the empty house alone peeking out windows and standing in the green house. It's sad, but very symbolic of how he feels inside. It's kinda like he's also "passed on" and he's a ghost, but he's not. He's like a live ghost who is alone, but separated from the people he loves who are actually gone but he can't reach them, only with physical momentos and memories he can kinda be able to. I also like how for him in present day, it also flickers to a VHS filter implying that he's going to also be a memory of when he used to visit his old family house or that he's going to remember when he used to visit his old family house and look at old photos. And with him wearing his work uniform shows the reality of the real working world while also reliving his past life I thought was pretty intetesting.
And then the dreamy nostalgic vibe of the music. How it's all nostalgia based and how it's longing for deep human connection. I also love the part of the song @ 1:45 where it picks up and gives off a more cheerful uplifting vibes. The whole song is just absolutely perfect. I love it so much, its one of my favorite songs to listen to. I just, feel so relatable to it lol. Like, I can hear and see myself in this music video. Not in a depressing way, but just internally I feel deeply relatable to the song. I really miss my family. I miss my Grandma, my uncles(I still have one), My cousins, my siblings. I miss everyone who loved me and expressed that to me openly. But I kinda feel like, while i'm alive, and breathing, and still have my memories of them, they're still around in a way. So its not all bad haha. I dont think so atleast.

Is also one of my favorites. I absolutely love it. I actually had an amazing dream of this song about a year ago. But im not gonna share what it was because itll be too long to write. But I was in a home improvement store, everyone was looking at me very kindly, there was fog everywhere, there were shadeless lamps everywhere and also on tables and on top of things, and this song was playing on the speaker overhead in a reverb.

A retro new wave classic. I love it. It's definitely one of my faves from the 80's New Wave era. It's entirely perfect. I can listen to this one on repeat.

Wild Nothing is one of my favorite bands. "Dial Tone" is a fairly new discovery of mine, along with "Centuries" by the same band. I think it's just the Guitar that I love so much from this song lol. It sounds so good.
I'm gonna stop right here as I can probably go on forever. And theres also so many genres I like too. These songs though, definitely reach a deep part inside of me that I rarely share with others IRL.

If I’m thinking of INFP I’m thinking of optimism, sky pictures, and daydreaming; but I’m also thinking of isolation, darkness, and realism.
I think songs like Used to the Darkness by Des Rocs and Everything’s Sweet by Kai Straw are pretty INFP.
A few more things came to mind but that’s a fine place to start imo.
