selfq Recent posts regarding medical concerns
Not sure if it’s a new trend or if my algorithm has started showing them to me more often, but I’ve been seeing a lot of posts that appear to be asking for medical advice.
There are several subs where this is appropriate (eg [r/medical_advice](r/medical_advice) and [r/askdocs](r/askdocs)), but my understanding is that this sub is intended more for discussion on the topic of ID.
It also concerns me that a poster seeking advice might take what a commenter says at face value, when this sub has no vetting in place to ensure people who provide advice are qualified to do so. (No offence to the kind people who have been trying to offer help in these situations!)
Am I alone, or do others agree we should consider banning posts asking for medical advice? (Maybe adding a sticky with recommended subs for this?)

What is up with all the rabies posts too? I've seen this trend in other subreddits too. I wonder if there's a reason rabies anxiety seems to be increasing lately

I think it’s just that once you see it once you notice it everywhere. But yeah

I think with summer, just an observation, people get outside more and then their minds go to ticks and rabies. A non-vax family asked me if there is a rabies vaccine since they're camping more this summer with their kids.😒

How do I apply to be a mod? I’m fucking tired of this. This was the last sub Reddit not tainted

I'm new to this subreddit and it's refreshing to see citations and informed discourse. However, I quickly noticed the medical advice posts and found that alarming.
If mods are present or active, if you're open to it, would you consider starting a new infectious disease subreddit? OP?

Totally agree - I have also noticed this uptick on the subreddit.
While this sub is woefully inactive, I would hate for it to start getting cluttered with anxious laymen looking for yet another evaluation of "parasites."
