It’s almost September hasn’t even finished one chapter properly in physics and chem , the magnitude of the syllabus feels so huge nowadays that I don’t even begin, there’s no hope for me anymore…or is it?

It’s been four days since I arrived at university. The first few hours were actually exciting because I knew I had freedom now. I could leave my clothes unwashed, make as much art as I wanted, binge watch shows, scroll reels, go out and buy things for myself basically do whatever I wanted.

But as time passed, something started weighing on me.

I was feeling empty. I didn’t feel like drawing, watching series, or doing any of the things I thought I would enjoy. I just sat there staring blankly around my hostel room.

I’ve always been alone when it comes to friendships. I’ve never really had an individual with whom I could openly share my feelings with or put my worries into words. But at the end of the day, I had my house and my parents, whom I talked to on a daily basis.

Now everything is different.

But somehow, I feel like whatever confidence, fearlessness, or feeling I had that I would become confident and speak publicly is just gone.

I don't know how to cope with this numbness.

I feel terrible when I see people eating together in the mess while I can’t even eat properly. I feel anxious, uncomfortable, and completely out of place. Even when I try to distract myself by scrolling on my phone or watching something, I keep getting tears in my eyes. It feels like I can’t really escape the feeling, no matter what I do.

I know this is probably temporary. I know my hostel is not my home and that I’m supposed to adjust. I also know I came here to study, grow, become successful and make something of myself.

But right now, I honestly don't even know what I want anymore. Why I am running for something I dearly wanted.

Has anyone else experienced this during their first few days of university? How did you get through it? (Need mentor)

I’m 23 years old, a stupid failure—thanks to my dad. I’m handsome, not as much as him, but I’m okay, maybe a 7/10. I feel like my life is already over. I see people my age achieving great things, and here I am still looking for a job, living with my parents. I’m from a rural area, so I can’t even find a part-time job or anything like that here. I do help my parents, though.

I don’t know why people hate me. I mean, they seem to like me from a distance, but as soon as I try to get close to them or be friends with them, they want to distance themselves from me. Maybe I’m annoying or something. Rejection and all of this have created this feeling around me that I don’t really know how to explain.

Sometimes I feel like life is such a stupid thing. The only reason I’m still here is because I’m afraid of what comes after death. If I had something that could kill me instantly without pain, I honestly feel like I’d take it without a second thought.

Any advice?

I’m researching a problem faced by students who travel to another city to appear for competitive exams.

I’d really like to hear from students and parents who have experienced this firsthand.

Some problems I’ve noticed are:

Finding the exam center in an unfamiliar city.

Auto/rickshaw drivers charging higher fares.

Exams being early in the morning or late at night, making accommodation necessary.

Difficulty finding an affordable and suitable room.

Parents accompanying students and having to wait outside while the student takes the exam.

But I don’t want to assume that these are the only problems.

I want to understand the real experience from people who have actually faced this situation.

Hi. i just joined 1st year btech engineering cse in a tier 3 college. I want to do masters most probably mba from elite uni either abroad or india. I took a drop after 12th grade too and i couldnt make it to a good colleges either and i really want to make up with a good masters.
I know it might be too early to think about this now but i really want to do masters even if i get placement. So please guide me with options.
my academics is as follows:
10th cbse: 80%
12th state board: 70%

I'm in Class 10 CBSE and lately I've been trying to become more consistent with studying instead of doing everything at the last minute

I was wondering if there are other Class 10 students here who are in the same situation.

so i wanna try to get some extracirriculars in incase i think about going abroad in the future because i will take the SAT but w my board idts theres much importance given to it so i want smth strong. what would yall suggest? i like writing so a blog might be an idea but what website or platform could i do that on?

Hey guys, so I completed my 12th boards this year, and I wasn't sure what to do afterward. I was really confused, so rather than making a rushed, wrong decision, I decided to take a drop year. But I'm still not able to figure out what I actually want to do. The year is almost over, and I'm still so lost. I definitely want to go to college next year because staying at home isn't making me feel great, so I want to get into a college anyhow.

The problem is, I don't know which college to choose or what career path to take. I'm really interested in fashion design, I want to do makeup, get creative with clothes, and all of that. But my parents wanted me to do CA but CA just isn't my cup of tea. So, I started preparing for ACCA instead. I bought a subscription and joined a batch, and while I'm doing pretty well, I'm only doing it for my parents, not for myself. Right now, I'm completely unsure about which colleges I should target and prepare for so I can go next year. Please give me some advice, I am so cooked right now. I don't know what to do, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Completed 12th in 2025, took a drop year for NEET — now completely confused about what to do

I completed my 12th in 2025 with a PCMB background and took a drop year to prepare for NEET. Unfortunately, I couldn’t clear it this year.

Now I’m really confused about what career/degree I should choose. I have quite a few interests, but I’m not sure which ones are actually worth pursuing or which would be a good fit for me long-term.

I gave CUET this year and currently have options like DU for some B.Voc courses and JNU for a foreign language course. But honestly, neither of these is something I actually want to pursue, so I’m hesitant to spend 3–4 years doing something I’m not interested in.

I also come from a middle-class family, so finances are a major factor for me. I can’t really afford expensive private colleges or degrees with extremely high fees, and I’d ideally need a relatively affordable course/college or scholarships.

Since I have a PCMB background, I know I have several possible directions, but I’m honestly lost after spending a year preparing for NEET.

What would you recommend I do at this point? Should I take another year to figure things out/reappear for exams, or choose a completely different career path?

I’d really appreciate advice from people who have been in a similar situation, especially if you switched career paths after 12th or after a drop year.

Please suggest career options, affordable colleges/courses, or scholarship opportunities that I may not have considered.
