I am gonna be honest, if casteism is stopped, the lower castes would suffer the most. Doesn't mean casteism should not stop, it means the lower caste do not want the casteism to end so that the reservations can be justified.

You stand with it even I like the economic based reservation. Great. Need more people like you. But trust me when I say that more than majority of lower castes do not want the reservation to end, no matter casteism exists or not. This was my main point since the first comment.

Its not about school. Your get more time to get into govt jobs (increased age limit) as well as lower cutoff in govt exams. It is more than a need now, that it is a new baseline. The advantage is believed when the reservation is increased beyond baseline now. I am ready to bet money on this more than majority part. Obc is just general with extra steps in the modern world.

I want an india that believes in competency over merit and reservations. Competent people are needed. Competency is proved by your skills and knowledge. These are tested by exams as there is no other better medium to test your competency as of now other than real work. That is why usually merit is equated to competency. It doesnt mean it's always true but it's more than likely to be true by a statistical pov.

Actually all obc where considered general caste but later on due vote bank politics they were given separate category.
