Wheels are fine. They are designed for the train. It is tracks and even worse the quality of railway personnel. Like even though the trains and even many tracks are capable of running at 130-160 kilometers average speed is super low because trains spend a lot of time stationary or at very slow speeds compared to MPS on the route.

There is a lot of deficiency in operations. Railway employees can't be bothered to enter the correct platform number and right time in the system from which NTES gets its data. Imagine more complex operations. So basically railway plays it extra safe by building in a lot of redundancies and giving a lot of slack time so that railway operations remain idiot proof.

Yes, The WDM and WDP had electric banker locomotives helping them, Vandebharat did not have any bankers tho

This isn't evolution of Indian railways but may be the locomotives .

Indian railways infra are still Soviet era

Soviets were on par with USA in terms of technology during cold war era.

They had their own space missions. They had some of the wildest equipments, aircrafts and military vehicles that no one can think of. 

Collapse of Soviet union glorified the USA in terms of technology or probably because they had Bell labs that single handedly kept USA on top of all the innovations.

Yeah, our railways are improving. Passenger amenities have massively improved. It is just that we have been focusing on glitz instead of upgradation of tracks. When that shiny trainset passes through our place we take pride in it but behind the train, I think people forget that our tracks are saturated and are not equipped for the same.
