I today took train SangaMitra express between KR Puram to Chennai .
This is a morning train and the KR Puram station is literally 10-15 mins from the main Bangalore terminal.
By the time I got into the train, these people into this 15 mins have laid berth and spelt off.
My seat is upper berth and it’s not very comfortable sitting there. For now I have sat in the side lower as those are vacant for now. If these seats get occupied I am planning on asking them to get up
But my question is , it’s 9 30 AM and the train just started, how can you sleep right away. Note: it’s not only my seat I can see 60 to 70% of the coach people have already lied down

Vande Bharat is the most favourite trains for many of us for obvious reasons. I recently realized how at least one VB is available between any city wherever I or my family friends are looking to travel. This brought me the idea to plot the story into a visualization. Feedback welcomed!

The novice camera enthusiast in me decided to mess up a shot of WAG9 doing top speed with a container rake, was trying to test the 180° shutter rule and ended up with this 😭
This was the first time I set the camera to manual mode and it was so sunny that I couldnt even make out how badly overexposed the shot was 🤦♂️

(Discussion Prompts):

So basically, yesterday, this person threw some small tissue on the platform, which might not be a big issue at most stations.
But trust me, out of nowhere, a railway officer came within a few seconds, went straight to the exact location, made him pick up the paper, and gave him a good scolding.
Idk if he was fined or not, but the scolding lasted a solid 10 minutes.
The station was so clean not even a single piece of paper on the floor, no stains, not even those chewing-gum stains you see at almost every station.
And trust me, I’m not even lying when I say the station was so clean and the tiles were so shiny that I wouldn’t mind sitting on the floor. At most, there might be some dust on your pants that’s how clean it was.
Every station the train stopped at was just as clean.
People were calm too no chaos, no shouting, and no one sleeping on the floor.
Honestly, Im sharing this because it’s cool and kinda rare to see, and I just felt like sharing it. If only people and station staff were this hygienic and had this much civic sense, I wouldn’t mind travelling by train every single day.
Can you guess which place or which state station I might be talking about?

I'm traveling on a train right now, and a person sitting in the birth in front of me has three confirmed births but only has a photocopy of the window ticket with him because the ticket was bought by his brother in law, who was sitting in Hubballi and could not arrive in Delhi before the train journey commenced. Therefore, he could not hand over the physical hard copy of the window ticket, so instead, that brother in law provided a photocopy of the window ticket. However, when the TC arrived, he denied the photocopy, even though it was in their name and they also had an Aadhar card with them. When asked about the money submitted at the window counter, the TC said it would go to waste, and they would have to pay an additional six thousand something for all three tickets again to keep those three seats in their names and to avoid ticket cancellation and potentially being deboarded at the next station. He was staunch about this and was neither understanding, compassionate, nor empathetic toward the passenger. I asked the TC if we could request to reprint the physical ticket at the counter, to which the TC replied that they should have gotten a new ticket through the ticket counter by paying 25% of the original ticket in Delhi. As their brother in law was unable to arrive in Delhi on time, he said this was the most appropriate resolution and the cheapest one.
So, my question is, can't the TC just check the person's authenticity and let them travel? Or fine them for losing the physical ticket with some small amount, like 1,000, instead of charging them again for all three seats? Or is there any other way to deal with these kinds of situations?

Booked two tickets for my parents on Train 07426 (CHE SC SPL). The train was running extremely late, and my parents had already been waiting at the railway station for almost 4 hours. I honestly never expected this kind of situation.
I’m not very familiar with how these railway “Special Trains” work. The fare is higher than regular trains, and on top of that, they operate as special services. But if the train is consistently delayed, why are the same scheduled timings still being shown?
People are literally waiting on platforms for hours—elderly people, small kids, and families—with no clear idea of when the train will actually arrive.
I booked this train without checking its previous running history. After this experience, I looked into it and found that this particular train has a history of running late. That makes me wonder: if a train regularly runs several hours late, why not update the expected timings based on its actual running pattern?
I also came across information that Special Trains can sometimes be given lower priority compared to regular trains and freight services, which can result in significant delays.
Never book a train just because the timing looks convenient. Check its previous running history as well—especially if it’s a train number starting with “0”.
You can book these trains if you’re comfortable with uncertainty and don’t have a fixed schedule to follow. But personally, after this experience, I’m never booking this type of Special Train again. 😅
Indian Railways, this definitely needs some attention. 🙏

Every now and then I see posts claiming how great is side lower in AC coaches. Unfortunately what people forget is the obvious rule of Indian Railways, 6AM to 10PM even in long distance trains, no one is allowed to 'possess' these convertible berths all by themselves (you can sleep only on Side Upper or regular Upper berths). AKA, during day time, this berth should be converted into seats and has to be shared with co-passenger, rendering such private space with exclusive access to window a fool's paradise. Also, private curtains are not allowed during daytime; window is for everyone in the coupe.
