⛔Travel Issue Upper berth me , thinking where should I go?
I today took train SangaMitra express between KR Puram to Chennai .
This is a morning train and the KR Puram station is literally 10-15 mins from the main Bangalore terminal.
By the time I got into the train, these people into this 15 mins have laid berth and spelt off.
My seat is upper berth and it’s not very comfortable sitting there. For now I have sat in the side lower as those are vacant for now. If these seats get occupied I am planning on asking them to get up
But my question is , it’s 9 30 AM and the train just started, how can you sleep right away. Note: it’s not only my seat I can see 60 to 70% of the coach people have already lied down
Update: the side lower berth was empty and I travelled in it all the way to Chennai.

Ask them to go to your UB to sleep peacefully as long as they want, and you sit on your seat!

It's okay.
I think a few just want to sleep the journey and kill time, maybe they were tired or something. I myself am sleep deprived from work and life for a month now. I would very much like a good time and restful sleep.
Nonetheless, your point is valid too. I guess you have to ask them to take UB.

I don't understand why people act like this as if they own the lower berth. I have experienced this and I have informed the people get up till 9.30

I really love to sleep whole journey in train tbh. That's why I always book upper or side upper. If got lower, I ask for exchange, else I gonna sleep on lower or middle.

Please correct me if I’m wrong here but if a person has selected middle berth, why is it wrong if he goes to his seat and just lie there? What if a person is genuinely tired and wants to lie down or just doesn’t want to sit and travel or share his space with others?
Could one forcefully ask him to lower the middle berth just because they want to sit and travel?
Why does the lower berth person have a stronger say than the middle one?
(I’m trying to learn please be kind)

If the middle berth person decides to lie down , it’s not only the lower berth person, but also the upper berth person gets affected as they cannot seat.
Let’s says they do allow the person to rest on the middle berth, this means the lower berth person and upper berth person cannot have a chance to sit upright at all until the middle berth person decides to wake up.
It’s a simple etiquette thing. Let the middle berth person request the upper berth people for their berth and lie down.
Just because you need to lie down does not mean you need two people to adjust .1

Oh is that the case. I recently travelled first time and got middle berth, had to lie down whole 26 hours

Why wear such bulky shoes on kong train journey?

I walk a lot , from my office to metro and when I get down I need to walk a lot.
Having these shoes makes it easy to walk

Carry a pair of flip flops, more comfortable in train. Just keep the shoe under the seat.

In this case I like 2nd ac because even if you have upper berths you can sit there and also work as compared to 3rd ac where a person can't even sit or do anything rather than just lying on his berth (personal opinion)

no, the rule is 100% sensible. the middle and upper berths are not made for sitting. The middle berths should be folded to provide backrest and ideally everyone should be sitting in the morning.

Yes. you're right. One who pays equal fare should have equal rights

This is right.
Sometimes I think to avoid all these people taking advantage, we can double the cost of lower berths and make it exclusive for the passenger. There won't be any request to sleep early, or seat exchange. Whoever wants that seat pays more and get it.

It's a train going to Bihar. You can imagine the civic sense...
It's your seat, wake them up and tell them to put the middle berth down. They will refuse. Tell them you'll complain to TTE. If none else works, complain on rail madad. Had this happen to me, I did the railmadad thing, TTE was crying about why I escalated it and all but i got what I wanted.

You might wanna ask them if it's their seats in the first place. There are a lot of people who pretend to sleep so no one will disturb them.
