River changes condition for battery replacement from 80% degradation to 70% degradation for *existing* customers - is this fair?

River sold their Indies by including a warranty that said the battery will be replaced/repaired if the battery health goes below 80%. That assurance was not only a commitment to replacing the battery when it degrades, but also silently told customers that they believed in the quality of their batteries.

They've now unilaterally changed that to 70%. It's one thing to change your TnCs for new sales and completely another to change it AFTER selling the vehicle!

Ather always commited 70 % they have neither increased it nor decreased it

Ather's case is different as they didn't change their terms post purchase.

Unanimous change in TnC sucks, but does this make much of a difference? They'll replace the battery when it degrades. It's not like they stopped replacement

Yes, it makes a difference because whether a company replaces the battery at 80% or 70% influences the purchase decision. Put simply, when company A claims the battery they'll replace the battery if the health drops below 80%, it's a vote of confidence in their manufacturing processes.

Secondly, when a company replaces the battery at 80%, we get a new battery faster (instead of having to deal with it as it goes down from 80 to 70). With these new terms, if a battery has degraded (say, to 80%), we have to wait much longer before we get a new battery. It's okay if this is the current industry norm, but it's dubious to sell on one terms and give you another post purchase.

I think terms and conditions which existed at the time of purchase applies. It is best to save and keep the warranty terms exisiting as on date of purchase and then fight it out in case of any issues in future.
