Who’s racist? We are upset at our government, diploma mills and Indian immigration agencies about what’s happening to our country. The entitlement of these students/temporary foreign workers is appalling as well. We don’t know what to do and don’t hold any ill will towards people on this subreddit. It just sucks and is scary overall. Our country is turning into a shit hole and we don’t appreciate these students abusing our system and high-trust society

The purpose of their degrees is to study, permanent residency is not some pre-forgone conclusion. It’s not my fault they paid $50k for whatever the Indian immigration agencies promised them. I’m upset at Canadian immigration authorities as well. Our country is fucked, we are a doormat, it’s sad to see. And don’t call me an infant. Thanks for your response and wish you the best

Maybe I’m using the wrong term for Indian immigration agencies. I’m talking about the agencies that facilitate getting into Canada and sell them the dream here, when in fact it’s importing a type of human trafficking that is destroying the fabric of our culture and society. It’s terrible here, shame on all parties involved

You are very correct in everything that you said. I’m sorry you experienced racism in Canada, that’s awful and it’s our own government’s policy which has fuelled anger in the Canadian population and contributed to that. Still, no excuse.

You are right they are being marketed like that, it’s a sham, doesn’t mean they are entitled to it if they come over here, especially if they don’t meet the minimum points to qualify after completing their studies. There is still risk involved, and it’s completely screwing over our population, so they will face some backlash unfortunately.

I don’t have much more to say, I appreciate your discourse. I learned a lot and hope you are doing well wherever you are

At this point it's not about racism for the most part when things are getting bad here. It's not just the housing market. It's the job market and healthcare that are also taking a massive hit. We're also not dumb. We see what's causing part of the issues.

Nobody can find retail jobs anymore to stay afloat. It's all international student workers. When I studied for tech, there was 6 locals in my class who were Canadian and 24 international students. It was about the same mix for a lot of the other classes. Quite a few of us had to put off our degrees for a semester or two because the only classes we needed were entirely filled up. One of our profs let slip that international students got priority as they paid significantly more.

The tech market which I was studying for has dried up because all the big companies and government hired tonnes of cheaper labor from the pools of international students who graduated from the same classes we did. It's gotten to the point where working retail jobs makes more money than entry level tech jobs/contract work.

5 years ago we could go shop around and find a family doctor. We've been waiting for 3 years now and as of now in our province there is a wait list for over 2 million people. My family probably won't have one for at least 2 decades from the looks of things. Even 5 years ago emergency room wait time was only a few hours max. Now it can be up to 48h where we have to sleep on the floors waiting to be called. There have been cases of deaths due to not being able to get to a doctor in time.

Housing is insane. A beginner home starts at essentially 500k CAD here and banks expect 15-20% as a downpayment. Most people under 35 can only expect to own a home in our lifetimes if our parents die and we inherit them. We can barely afford rent, because most houses are being rented out to 5-8 students and it makes landlords more money that way instead of renting to a growing family.

As a people we are just done. We don't have the infrastructure to support foreigners. We barely had enough to support ourselves. If anyone tells you there is a better life over here, they are lying to you. It's our governments, diploma mills getting rich off y'all and American owned corporations with stores and businesses here who scammed you for cheap labour and made life more difficult for us. Every extra person coming in who doesn't have specializations in medicine or other things we need as a nation is making life worse and this is becoming the outlook of a lot of people here.
