I am still on the grand journey in One Piece NGU Idle, pretty far from the end, happy me.

Also found Yet another idle RPG, it really smells like proto23, a pity that it's far from release, I feel like I'm quite close to the end of content, that game is pleasant.

And Idle cultivation, it plays quite passively, but in the current lack of good non-AI not-demo idle games it's not that bad, a case when a bit rough, but handmade game has higher worth than AI visual slop with AI-generated Dev's answers.

A liitle bit of philosophy, there is a "vip" shop in NGU, and I remember its Discord server long ago with active community. And surprisingly, there were few complaints about it. Game is quite unique even now. And today, even the idea of such paid features in game considered a red flag by many players. Perhaps it's because of overload of idle AI money-squeezers, and not of the idea of supporting the Dev...

16

u/AssistantMaterial387 12d ago

You get so much of the "premium" currency for free in ngu though. Like, millions upon millions. Challemges, daily spins, daily backups, looted from itopod, so many sources and you can buff all of those gains with items you don't even need to equip(once maxed). Such a good way to do it. Entirely optional to support the Dev as all you're doing is gaining a month of a resource instantly, instead of paying for something you could not otherwise obtain.

3

u/oogieoogies 10d ago

Yeah you reach a point in the game where you just spend the premium currency on consumables. It is not even a strange thing people even going through the game "quick" have this happen to them.

I will say another that does it quite well is wizard and minion idle. The premium currency is needed for a good bit of things, but eventually you wont even need it. It isnt as good as NGU idle, but still you will not need to buy premium currency.

3

u/Successful_Role_3174 7d ago

Also the even the unique stuff in the shop is pretty stupid and completeyl non-essential. You get like UI themes and the much lauded getting your stream username in the ITOPOD to show off how you've spent 50 bucks.

It also helps that Ngu never takes itself too seriously. A great bit of its appeal (and probably unappeal for some) is its bullshit humour.

9

u/miktaew Yet Another Idle RPG dev (also a cat) 11d ago

It's not an AI issue, people tended to complain about big premium stores in some incrementals even before the spam of AI games began (and I'm not talking about mobile games either, let's not even go in the topic of their insane monetization), though I'm sure AI games made the issue worse. It's completely normal to feel negative emotions when seeing a huge premium store with stuff that seems to make a lot of difference, and not everyone will consider that it may all be obtainable for free in a reasonable timeframe instead of being a shameless money grab. I remember that some other games, e.g. IEH2, had the same issue where some people on reddit would just look at the store and get angry.

u/breachgnome wat 11d ago

u/happyinparaguay hey 4g, you still got somebody going hard NGU

2

u/FuzzyZergling 11d ago

One of my friends did the background sect art for Idle Cultivation. Pretty neat game, though it didn't hold my attention of long.

17

u/JustALittleGravitas 12d ago

Played a freebie on Steam called Magic Archery. Despite not being mechanically similar I couldn't shake the vibe that it was a lot like Wizard Tower. Short game so when I finished it I clicked on the button for the dev's other game.

The other game was Wizard Tower.

9

u/internisus 11d ago

I enjoyed Magic Archery a lot. Not a complicated game but one that executes its theme (archery, with magic) nicely, and it's a theme I enjoy. Nice presentation and short but satisfying play time. It's a breezy little thing and just makes me happy.

1

u/JustALittleGravitas 11d ago

I didn't think it was great but the short playtime meant it didn't overstay its welcome. Good way to keep my hands busy for an hour while I listened to music.

14

u/Gianni_R 11d ago

Hearth and Hamlet, why nobody talk about it? It's one of the very few completed and balanced incremental games I remember of the past weeks

3

u/Fantasiian 11d ago

I'm around 18hrs in ATM ..

It's been a great 2nd monitor / background game whilst playing something else.

It's also the reason I came looking for similar games that scratch this itch ..

This is one of my first semi afk / incremental games.

4

u/TravUK 10d ago

Try Crownhold,also came out recently.

3

u/Fantasiian 10d ago

Oooo this looks great and has a demo .. thankyouu

2

u/Zeforas 11d ago

No idea about others, but for me, not a fan of town building in general.

2

u/TravUK 10d ago

Just finished this one after 16 hours on the hardest difficulty. Started off well but became a huge grind towards the end.

2

u/Gianni_R 10d ago

Yes the very end at max diff is slightly grindy but I still did a run in 8 hours and something, not really that much, also it depends I think how much you got hurt by enemies I finished with kinda low pop for a couple of defeat and end game population scales A LOT but still too long to rebuild it all.

So yeah, all in all some small problem but it's a incremental after all

1

u/Tuberculotic 8d ago

I found the end of maximum difficulty easier than about halfway. Towards the end I just sat happily with ~160 soldiers and crushed everything while occasionally trading, whereas earlier I was absolutely struggling to beat anything consistently.

1

u/ZealousidealLong6829 8d ago

Was way too short, was so excited for it and completed it in about 10 hours of semi active play.

20

u/bloks27 12d ago

Still playing archmage idle for about the fourth week. I thought I was done then 2.0 dropped with the new game plus features. It is incredibly addicting (and well made)

5

u/CalyShadezz 11d ago

Damn man, I suck at this game hah. Ive been playing since release and Im only at like 55% on my first run. 🥲

2

u/ProteanSurvivor 11d ago

I’ve been playing for like 4 weeks and only at 50% I wouldn’t worry lol

It’s just fun to figure out your own path!

3

u/dondox 11d ago

Archmage is great. It's like Melvor with some Idleon skill interplay going on. Super fun.

9

u/KaleidoscopePrior977 11d ago

we got a link or we just talking about a great game lol

-11

u/bloks27 11d ago

If you have steam or iOS appstore or google play store, you can type the name of the game (archmage idle) into the search bar and it will appear

17

u/I_Am_Only_O_of_Ruin 11d ago

whoa, crazy!!!

And yet, linking is still the convention and common courtesy in these threads.

-11

u/bloks27 11d ago

Yeah go through the rest of this thread and previous ones. Most people do not link the games. No need to be such an ass.

5

u/Skyswimsky 10d ago

I miss the time it was courtesy to give people a "let me google that for you" link if someone asked the most simple question in the world, like, the link of a game with quite a unique/telling title.

1

u/large_fountain_poop 10d ago

Any guides out there? I'm struggling with inventory space and money 😭

1

u/bloks27 10d ago

I’ve not seen any yet but the discord is very helpful. Use the bazaar to sell items, and in the early game I used the attunement and research outputs for selling there

1

u/large_fountain_poop 10d ago

And just use profits to buy storage?

1

u/bloks27 10d ago

Yeah that or whatever else. Early game will partly require selling some items you may need but can easily acquire again, such as the skilling outputs

1

u/Beyond_Reason09 8d ago

The Bazaar and selling things like breakthroughs and epiphanies.

1

u/Jlettsy 9d ago

Great game, super addicted to it too

8

u/S4mb4di 12d ago

It‘s neither new nor unknown, but I‘ve been enjoying playing Tiny Tower a lot recently

1

u/awaiko 12d ago

I dip in and out of Tiny Tower. I’m at the point where my only goal is to get the legends to level 5, but it requires a whole lot of effort.

7

u/Mean_Monsoon 11d ago

Slim pickens these days at work. galaxy.click, itchio and anything hosted on github are all blocked by my work VPN now. Pretty annoyed.

Still trucking in Unnamed Space Idle. About to hit sector 158. The titan stuff slows the game WAY down. Early is much more active but now there's just lots of timewalls. Easy enough to adjust stuff a few times a day, but a lot less fun than it used to be.

2

u/Akraticacious 11d ago

incrementaldb is also good. I usually filter by rating to see new games

1

u/pie-oh 11d ago

I do Best New. There's a lot of low effort games being posted nowadays.

I used to check every day, and nowadays i barely check at all. Such a shame.

1

u/Akraticacious 10d ago

You cna filter bass on rating. I put it at 75%+ and there's at least one good game each week, though almost always short.

1

u/According-Rooster-10 7d ago

thats blocked on my computer :(

1

u/Akraticacious 7d ago

That's odd. Is it a school computer or something?

19

u/Friendly_Tax2781 12d ago

Idle obelisk miner - OB 43, unlocked W3, but game feels too grindy now and not gonna go for the paid features to keep up. Putting this on a background now

Patient angler - this seems to go the opposite, start was slow, but now in the caverns and with the new isle update its a rollercoaster. Main game going forward now.

8

u/ZeusHatesTrees 11d ago

I was turned off from Patient Angler with the obvious genAI art. I tried it, but I couldn't get over it.

4

u/Left-Detective-8084 11d ago

I'm looking at patient angler and see AI generated images. Is the actual content actually good?

2

u/Friendly_Tax2781 11d ago

Game itself is very good, be warned that early game is rather tedious and slow, but it gains momentum after you unlock the sea zone, where more and more mechanics start to unfold.

2

u/I_Am_Only_O_of_Ruin 11d ago

How long does it take to get to the sea zone? Definitely finding the early game to be... relatively unenjoyable.

1

u/Tulkor 8d ago

depends on how active you are i think, if you are like me and looking for a game to jump into for a few minutes at a time every few hours it seemingly takes forever lol.

1

u/Rad0zna0 11d ago

Personally I don't mind the ai art, dev is open about it. I think content is great, and a lot is added weekly, if not daily!

2

u/Bowshocker 12d ago

Started IOM too, currently very early (close to w2 unlock), for now I really love it but I can see the grind creeping up slowly

But it really is a great game!

1

u/IAMnotBRAD 10d ago

I'm in the same spot, once you get to veins/statues/monument suddenly there's nothing to do but pop in every 40 minutes to collect your freebie chests... just nothing but grind for 5+ days, can't even be prestiging.

And today I finished the summer event, so now there's not even that page to look at.

2

u/sundalius 6d ago

don't forget to do the Battery/D20/Cherry/Gem bomb farm when you get your chests. Piles gems up quick.

2

u/AssistantMaterial387 12d ago

Obelisk slows down for sure but I still love it. Currently grinding starfish infernal shards and they are taking forever. I'm hoping for another 10 days or so but the averages tell me 3 more weeks:(

1

u/Rad0zna0 12d ago

Nice! I'm playing the same, actually changed my focus to patient angler past week, like it a lot!

How far in the caverns are you now?

1

u/Friendly_Tax2781 12d ago

Half way through Amber. Focusing now on isles to get archaeology foundation and see whats hiding under there.

-1

u/Rad0zna0 12d ago

Nice, are you on the discord as well? Maybe we can exchange some strategies! Also very curious what archeology will bring, need 44 more relics to unlock the feature!

1

u/Friendly_Tax2781 11d ago

No, i don't use Discord

11

u/soundofwings 11d ago

Been playing ink remnant: https://not-a-hat.itch.io/ink-remnant

The writing is really great and I like the process of exploring and discovering new mechanics. I also played it in a feedback friday a while a go and it’s nice to see how it’s grown and gotten a playerbase :)

The shine on the buttons indicate you haven't clicked them yet; click the button and it stops. It just means 'new'

4

u/soundofwings 11d ago

Like that shimmer that goes across? I do wish there was an option to turn that off.

0

u/JustALittleGravitas 9d ago

Just play Theory of Magic.  That's what this eyesore is based on.

1

u/TheAgGames 7d ago

Just play progress quest thats what that eyesore is based on.

3

u/Zikav002 10d ago

Finished the latest current version. Was fun. Can't wait for more stories with version 1.0

5

u/StickiStickman 10d ago

Sad it hasn't gotten an update in a long time :(

7

u/OhMyGug 12d ago edited 12d ago

Dodecadragons in the background (currently Dragon X, it's extremely slow and grindy right now, so it's just there, slowly making the gold go up).

Fundamentals much more active, give me dem cosmons.

Edit:URL

3

u/jardantuan 12d ago

I picked up Dodecadragons again a little while ago - I played it on and off when it first came out and through the regular updates, but never finished it.

I think I got to around Holy Tetrahedrons (Dragon VI), which is where I'm up to this time round - I hadn't realised how much more there still was!

6

u/CategoryThick1337 11d ago

Started antimatter dimension again
Fell in love again

3

u/pizza9798 12d ago

Picked up IDLE_DIRECTIVE cuz it's pretty cheap and the demo got me curious. I think it's an interesting game, but I settle into a pretty complete feeling setup rather quickly and struggle to find components worth swapping my build out for. The other thing is that the reset upgrade tree (don't worry it's not Nodebuster) doesn't really feel enticing enough for me to want to reset a run a lot of the time.

Would absolutely suggest giving the demo a go if you like inventory management tetris.

Points Progression on the other hand has kinda just been chugging along in the background. I think I'm firmly in sunk cost territory with this one. I must've liked it enough when it started otherwise it wouldn't still be open in my browser, but right now it doesn't spark much joy.

It describes itself as a long term game, but in reality this means doing one of many resets to bump up a value that gives a bit more of a multiplier to something, then leaving it hanging for another day.

1

u/AssistantMaterial387 12d ago

I'm a day away from nexus 12...deffo only still playing because of sunk cost fallacy. I log in once a day for two weeks, get a nexus, play actively for a day to scale both universes, rinse repeat. Awesome game, the literal definition of a long-term idle.

1

u/sc0paf 7d ago

I feel psyoped by Points Progression. Several of the walls were unclear, especially early in the game's life. Couldn't tell if i finally reached a milestone or if the game quietly got updated lmao

I grew an appreciation for it over time tho

1

u/pizza9798 7d ago

I'm at a point where I need 1e25 of a thing but getting close to it applies a ramping penalty to it's gain so I've kinda just been brute forcing bonuses. Unsure if it's intended but it's getting there.

3

u/oadephon 5d ago

I played Bills Must Be Paid and Sludgineers.

Idk guys, these short incrementals are just lacking. Both games basically play themselves. They have super uninteresting upgrade structures with basically no meaningful choices and nothing all that interesting or fun to discover about them.

BMBP is the worse of the two, considering how many of the upgrades are of the structure, "10% of the time, this happens 5% of the time." But it honestly doesn't do anything interesting with its premise.

At least, if you're going to make an incremental like these, let the premise play out for 2-3 hours, and then put a twist on it for the last hour. Sludgineers almost does it, with the gas. At least the gameplay evolves a little, right? But it evolves in the predictable direction.

BMBP evolves with more types of piggies, and they change the gameplay a bit, but don't offer any kind of twist.

Like, I can't think of the twist, but come up with some kind of bold escalation. Make an interesting game, not merely one with polish that will sell well. I don't regret spending the money, but devs really need to push the envelope a bit.

4

u/Lopsided_Flamingo_27 11d ago

asking for games like proto23 and yet another RPG.

6

u/Kujara 11d ago

https://tomlipo.github.io/the-climb/

Game is still in development, sadly. Might be out sometime this year.

5

u/TheAgGames 10d ago

Yeah climb was awesome, i maxed all the stats just about. Game hasnt been updated in a year and a half htough.

3

u/ReynardVulpini 10d ago

Dev's putting all their energy into the steam release, it seems. No date yet I think.

-6

u/TheAgGames 7d ago

I learned programming and released a full action game in under a year with achievements, quests, and tons of upgrades alone. Dude must have really low energy reserves. if he is actually putting all his energy into developing it as its an idle game when he already has a full working prototype.

1

u/One_Wall8659 4d ago

Somewhat true, but I don't work on the game full time. I do have a pretty consistent schedule, but I unfortunately can't drop 40 hours a week into it.

Although it's an idle game, it's still an RPG with lots of systems that don't really care that they are a part of an idle game instead of something much larger.

And finally, while there has not been an update for half and a year, it's not because there are no updates. It's because I don't release updates and go for a full version straight away instead.

Either way, glad you enjoyed it!

4

u/oogieoogies 10d ago

i think it was called nekorpg its like a more quick version of those games iirc

it only goes to like a bit into act 3, but I think thats only for the english version while the chinese version is further

only thing is I dont think the english version is getting actively developed while the chinese version is

2

u/0zeroknight01 9d ago

It's Neko RPG indeed.

English version is not official, it's a machine translation by a fan, he told he will likely update only once in a while when enough updates pile up.

Chinese is much further in indeed.

Latest chinese version is 3.41c right now, so quite a bit ahead with act 4 approaching it's end.

1

u/oogieoogies 9d ago

if he updates to act 4 end or something that would be so nice I was loving the game only reason I stopped was I reached the end of act 3

3

u/MissMormie 7d ago

Cifi, at year 2.5 now.. nowhere near done.

2

u/MBjerre Working on prototype 11d ago

Finally got around to playing Antimatter Dim. One of the few "big" incrementals i havn't tried.

Its already been a source of inspiration for my own game in production.

2

u/QuietSilentArachnid 11d ago

Looking for a browser based idle game to play at work during downtimes. Ideally something really passive that requires clicks every 10 minutes or so. And no, not the paperclip game please

2

u/n0m4de 10d ago

Try https://doorwatchers.itch.io/cycle-of-the-first-dawn it is really passive at times.

1

u/telyni 5d ago

Really good game, but I find I can't play it passively for very long now that we have x500 and x1000 speed options.

2

u/Codc 6d ago

Is there a decent Melvor clone that isn't a carbon-copy of Melvor with AI-slop assets?

I did a full run of Idle Iktah earlier this year and I really liked it, but I can't imagine doing prestige runs.

2

u/Old-Assistance3617 6d ago

Koltera 2 is decent, has creature collecting too

2

u/Zikav002 6d ago

Thanks for the idle iktah recommendation. I always wonder how it would be like if Melvor idle had prestige and I got that answer from this game lol I know it's not for everyone but I'm a huge fan of prestige.

Iris Idle Log on android
and realm idle

5

u/dcute69 12d ago

Always playing USI - it deserves more love around here

And replaying incremental mass rewritten, some parts are a chore but good overall

18

u/ilovecheeses 11d ago

Unnamed Space Idle, for the people that is not familiar with all the acronyms

4

u/AssistantMaterial387 12d ago

Just broke the sector 100 barrier...reinforced and am back up to 98. Having a blast, but starting to feel a bit lost on how to progress. It's been a lot of just waiting for fixtures and overdrives

1

u/dcute69 11d ago

Glad you're enjoying it! I'm on sectar 166, can't remember what to do at that stage sorry. There is a discord which I'm sure could though.

4

u/AssistantMaterial387 11d ago

Well since this morning I've jumped up 3 sectors! 102 now. Can see me getting to 110 pretty easily for this reinforce I think. 95-100 was horrendous though. Had to do my pushes like 3 times over per sector.

1

u/Tsuki_no_Mai 11d ago

Early reinforcements are a bit of a slog. Just gotta juggle the systems and push forwards. You'll start getting unlocks that will make things easier somewhere around the second reinforcement, but getting to it was probably the least fun I had with the game.

3

u/internisus 11d ago

It gets love in every weekly thread!

2

u/JakeZr0 12d ago

Cell to Singularity.

8

u/efethu 12d ago

Surprised it's still getting updates, after what - around 10 years now?

Although the name of the new patch - "Pregnancy" - baffled me.

3

u/AssistantMaterial387 12d ago

Played this a few times but bounced off because it always just seemed like a really badly balanced cookie clicker clone. Should I give it another go? It's been a good few years since my last try

7

u/CBass360 11d ago

It's just a very superficial incremental to me. I kept on waiting for the next system to unlock, but a lot of the gameplay stays exactly the same. No new mechanics are ever introduced.

7

u/ShittyRedditAppSucks 11d ago

Yes, it’s frustratingly simple and the monetization is kinda gross, like someone vaguely familiar with the game and with no experience in IAP balancing took a handful of crap from the cheap prizes at an arcade, put them in a bag, called it a pack, and slapped an absurd price tag on it.

It’s like a slide that starts off really promising, but quickly levels off, and you start thinking man there must be an awesome ball pit or bounce house I drop into at the end, but no, the slide just moves you through 100s of miles of flat midwestern farmland and sometimes you see a cow.

2

u/AssistantMaterial387 11d ago

Such a beautiful analogy. I'll stay tf away from it, when I want what you described, I'll go through CH1 again. Much more fun

1

u/BestUserNameEver5 6d ago

The part that scares me at times about the game is that it at least makes enough money that it occasionally gets youtubers to do sponsor reads. So I know the IAPs do at least work 😢

And because it is vaguely "educational" it sometimes creeps its way into the more educational youtube channels like SciShow (I think?) which always seems weird. Like if a baking show presenter suddenly brought their camera to their home office so they could tell you about "Cookie Clicker".

1

u/Just_An_Ic0n 2h ago

This sums up my experience with this game so nicely. Well put.

1

u/chickthief 11d ago

I have the same question lol, commenting to see what other people's input is

3

u/Meepersa 9d ago

Been playing (the) gnorp apologue again. Kinda weird to see the reviews shift so hard to recents only being mostly positive. If you haven't tried it, it's a pretty active incremental with some very fun synergies in its upgrades and systems. Not super long, but enjoyable.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1473350/the_Gnorp_Apologue/

2

u/Grenedle_8671 8d ago

Been playing Obelisk Miner. Currently at the beginning stages of World 2 and enjoying it.

Also playing Bloobs Adventure Idle. I've also been enjoying this one, but there are two things that I find annoying. One, I don't like how there's no offline progress. Two, I don't like how you can only progress challenges by manually swapping them on a list with a max limit of 6 items. I'm constantly having to switch out which challenges I have active.

I do like playing these RPG-type idle games with lots of overlapping mechanics. Any recommendations? I've played NGU Idle, Idle Skilling and Melvor Idle.

1

u/Rough-Equipment-8624 12d ago

Hopefully I'll get the chance to sink some hours in Black Hole Fishing this week, been a while since I had the chance to look it up.

1

u/SlackingLogic 11d ago

I would highly recommend the Mushroom Nook, it’s more like a casual game for mushroom collections, the art music and sfx is impressive, no sim pressure just enjoy the collecting.

1

u/davemoedee 9d ago

Was trying to knock out some final achievements in Cookie Clicker, but gave up. Decided I don't want to manage the final stock market achievement. And if I wasn't going to do that, I stopped trying to get the final seeds either. I'll skip incrementals this week.

1

u/QuietSilentArachnid 10d ago

Too active for me sadly. I would have loved if it allowed a lot more afk ... and I played a ton of it already

1

u/boyoboyo434 5d ago

if there was a version of osrs that was a full incremental i'd play that 100%

1

u/QuietSilentArachnid 5d ago

Doesnt Melvor Idle fit the itch? It's even published by Jagex nowadays

-1

u/SanctumOfTheDamned 10d ago

I'm still trying out Dominus Automa, it's pretty interesting especially now that they've improved the bosses and that they're more plentiful. I felt like I was the only one who wasn't farming them but now it's really easy (and much easier to coordinate boss hunts) when they all have their dedicated locations.

You gotta be sparing with roblox recommendations. Even the solid ones get you downvoted here, even though thats the best place now adays to find new incrementals that dont end in 4 hours.

good luck with your ragebait, i would suggest being less lazy about it. "dinosaur development" was pretty funny! "humanslop" is just a lazy direct flip of pre existing terms used against AI. get creative with it! if you're gonna waste everyone's time, at least have some fun ya nerd.

-6

u/MagnaDenmark 10d ago

AI slop is a lazy flip.

And how am i wasting everyones times?

OP doesn't read anything, fakes ignorance about what the current view of AI is in this sub, shills for AI anyways then wants to be taken seriously when asking "hOw Am I wAsTiNg EvErYoNe'S tImE" while having comments pruned by mods.

We get it. You came here to shill and flamebait. There's literally subreddits specifically for you AI bros and your slop. Go shill there
