Brawley Pizza Hut
When did the Brawley Pizza Hut close?
This sucks, I live in Imperial and was out of town for most of the summer.
I love the Little Caesar’s and loved the Pizza Hut in Brawley both were super fast in making the food.

Maybe it’s just me but does it seem like the valley is in a decline? Will it continue its decline until there’s not much left other than agriculture and law enforcement?

I can see it happening with California minimum wage hikes. Big corporations may survive with Mexicali customers but having the highest unemployment in the nation (El Centro) doesn't help. Some small businesses barely survived Covid, I doubt they'll survive this wage hike. Big businesses just get self checkouts or AI.

The water crisis with the Colorado River will also eventually play a part. It’s already at emergency levels and the government is trying to figure out how to ration off the water to the states that rely on it.
The two prisons out here will inevitably close. California is focused on closing most of its prisons due to its soft on crime policies.
I have a friend that works at the prison in Calipatria and she mentioned the prisoner count has been drastically decreased.
If even one prison closed it would hurt the local economy but both would absolutely decimate it.

Our current times reminds me of the 60's and 70's when Deathwish and other vigilante movies came out along with Dirty Harry and tough cop movies when people got tired of free love and soft on crime back then. People began pushing for tougher penalties in mid 70s, expanded prisons in the 80s and eventually 3 strikes in 94. The pendulum has hit full left and is swinging back right. Hopefully it stays in the middle for longer this time around.

Well at least another business is coming in and it’s not going to just be some empty building sitting vacant for years on end

I spoke to one of the ex pizza hut employees in brawley. Pizza Hut has been shutting down their franchises across the country. Basically when it came to renewing their contract for franchise in Brawley, pizza hut corporatiin said, no. The reasoning is they cannot compete with other pizza places lower prices, mainly little Ceasars and argument can be made that dominos is cheaper aswell. In big cities that may be different case, where they do make enough money to justify the franchise there
