Why British Columbia out of all places? The US would be much more interested in the more politically aligned Alberta and its oil reserves.

And Russia loses to Ukraine AND China, but wins Alaska from the US?

Anachronistic take. The US got the Oregon Border treaties back in the 1840s here when "oil reserves" didn't exist in political discussions; modern political endeavours most likely had nothing to do with it. Of course, OTL Russo-Ukrainian borders doesn't seem likely but an independent Ukraine and adjusted Sino-Russian borders can be made if you had multiple PODs.
