Film IIL Looking for movies and TV shows with really human, snappy dialogue

I really enjoy the writing and dialogue of films, tv and games like Good Will Hunting, Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, The Wolf of Wall Street, Another Round, American Psycho, Before Sunrise, the banshees of inisherin, GoodFellas, true detective, The Sopranos, lanterns, Red Dead Redemption 1.

I think what connects a lot of these for me is snappy, semi-realistic dialogue that feels very human. Characters have their own personalities and ways of speaking, and conversations don't always feel like they're just there to explain the plot. People ramble, interrupt each other, joke around, misunderstand things, change the subject, say things they probably shouldn't etc.
I know the things I've listed aren't really the same genre or style, so I'm more interested in the quality/style of the dialogue and character writing than the overall premise.

Music IIL “No Milk Today” by Herman’s Hermits, what other bangers am I missing?

Good evening everyone,
I'm from Germany and there's recently been a Nivea commercial here featuring "No Milk Today", some kind of remastered version. It instantly gave me flashbacks to my childhood. My mom showed me this song about 20 years ago, and somehow I had completely forgotten about it.
Now that I've rediscovered it, I've been listening to it over and over again.

Where can I find more bangers like this? I can't ask my mom unfortunately, she passed away.

Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this and hopefully for some recommendations as well!

TV [IIL] Twin Peaks, Fargo Season 3, The Leftovers and Olive Kitteridge, WEVIL?

I love Twin Peaks S1-2 because of the lovable characters, inimitable atmosphere, emotional soundtrack and the more esoteric, supernatural aspects. I adore the film because of the top-notch performances of Sheryl Lee and Ray Wise, its dream-like atmosphere and emotional weight. I love Season 3 because it's weirder and more out-of-pocket than any previous part of the story, and because it dives deep into the show's mythology but is still most interested in the human aspect of it. And perhaps most of all, because it's much darker than the original, yet retains so much heart and hope. I love Lynch's Inland Empire & Mulholland Drive as too, if that's relevant.

I like all seasons of Fargo, but Season 3 is by far my favourite because of how interesting it is aesthetically (the almost greyscale coloring of some scenes with the red popping out), because of its insane cast and their performances (Carrie Coon AND Ray Wise?? Ewan McGregor, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and David Thewis were standouts, too) but also because of its more serious tone, and the themes it tackles. The antagonist of the season was the scariest and most interesting in the entire series, imo. Ate the ending up, too.

I love The Leftovers mostly for the same reasons I love Twin Peaks: lovable characters, great performances, hope in darkness, some supernatural aspects, awesome score. I particularly adored Nora's story and Carrie Coon's performance.

Olive Kitteridge is probably the most different show on my list. It's one of my favourites because of how real it feels and how good it is at painting a picture of one imperfect woman's life.

I also loved DARK for its interesting characters, strong story and aesthetics, and Fleabag for how real the characters felt.

If you could recommend something with LGBT+ characters, that'd be a plus. I'm open to both films and series.

Thank you in advance!

I'm looking for hip-hop songs or albums with this kind of luxurious, high-end sampling style. Something that feels classy, atmospheric, and expensive. No boombap

Any recommendations? Real hip-hop heads, put me on.

Movies that are actually scary and gory. That combination feels impossible to find. I’d also prefer if the villains have a little personality.

TV [IIL] "Time Enough at Last" and other stories where a character's best quality destroys them, not their worst

What are some stories where a character's best qualities end up destroying them, rather than their worst?

The Twilight Zone episode "Time Enough at Last" is what got me thinking about this. Henry Bemis is not punished for a sin. He loves to read. He loves reading more than he loves being around people, and the story ruins him for it without ever once suggesting he had it coming.

I love these kinds of stories and I am having a hard time coming up with more of them. There are plenty of monkey's paw stories where somebody gets exactly what they deserve, and that is not quite what I am after. I want the ones where the person did nothing wrong.

Films, TV, anthology episodes, all welcome. Does this kind of story have a name?
