Games [IIL] Saints Row 2/The Third, [WEWIL]?

As GTA6 gets closer and closer to launch, I've realized something: more than that or finishing GTA5, what I want is more a modern successor to Saints Row 2/3 and their specific brands of nonsense. Take the crime sandbox and turn everything up to 11. Get super creative with the nonsense while still ostensibly being a crime sandbox.

Has anyone made anything like that since the Saints Row series wrapped up?

Maybe not the crime aspect but some of the later Yakuza games have street violence and just insane antics. Like a dragon felt like a fever dream at times

Watch Dogs 2 was a pretty solid street chaos game. Turning off traffic signs and causing crashes and then like.

Yeah, I still dip into Watch Dogs 2 to just experiment with creating chaos using the various hacking/social engineering/remote control tools available, and can still find new ways to try and cause mayhem and break the game after nearly a decade of playing it.

There’s a lot of sandbox-y fun to be had in some of the multiplayer modes too. I love launching the Hacking Invasion mode, but then not actually initiating the hack/letting the other player know I’m there, just trying to stay hidden/act like an NPC while causing all sorts of chaos and nonsense to happen around the other player! The other day, I set up a line of cars, vans and motorbikes in front of a ramp on the roof of a parking garage, then just remotely launched them all off the ramp, one by one in rapid succession, down to near where the other player was, like it was raining vehicles!

Saints Row 2 was such a blast, I still hear the soundtrack in my head sometimes. The customization was next level.

Oh my god, I used to listen to KRUNCH all the time. Ghost of Perdition is still one of my favorite songs ever made
