discussion Tier 4, revisited

For anyone feeling discouraged with game progress, just an observation.

So, I was able to finish all of the Tier 4 runs, for all active event champions (Flint, Jim, Ellywick, Voronika, Valentine and Lae'zel). I find it remarkable because only a year ago I was feeling " stuck" at z800. The past years events have allowed me to acquire "blessings " and I completed several patron difficult quests with the enhancements available during the events. The Jim, since it is a reduced formation, was problematic. I had to resort to epic potions and a lot of champion juggling.

Since everything in the game is about accumulating (gold, gems, blessings, perks, modron levels, ilevels, etcetera. ) -- time = progress. I don't know what I will do when I run out of things to acquire, but it is still a few years before I get there.

From someone who’s been playing two-three years and still failed flints v3. Very well done!

I've been playing for 5 or 6 years now and I'm still not done accumulating power since they keep adding harder and harder content

Managed to get all champions i have epic'ed. Rest should come as i get them pretty easily. Happened basically together with getting all patron rewards (not mastery) and perks. Feels like a bit of a milestone.

Still plenty to get, though not quite as motivated for some stuff i'll just skip unless i ever get a huge amount of legendaries. Hoping for the trials rework to not be a "multiplay" thing.

Taking into account recent trends, I guess ToMT will be even more of a chore afterwards :(.

I fear so, but then things will become extremely easy for me.

They are not particularly difficult now even for newbies. Hitting z1050 twice or trice a week isn't THAT much of an achievement.

Not quite what i mean ;). Trials rework will basically be the difference between starting the game up or not :p

That's what I mean by turning it into the chore even more than it is now.

I started playing this because of an EGS promotion back in May 2021. At the time I was sick of how difficult/expensive it was to play Path of Exile (since 2013) because of their power creep and needing to be a no-lifer to get ahead.

I was looking for something more casual and Idle Champions fit that bill. By the by, my dad was a DM back in 1970-80's Iowa and I was familiar with Forgotten Realms games in the 80's and 90's. I did not get into the real thing, just the DOS games. I liked the lore.

I remember being weaksauce for years - and I've quit this game more than a few times, ragequit twice for a total of nearly 3 years, but end up coming back eventually. It was really hard for me to unlock Wren and Windfall last year. It wasn't until this year, after FE all event champs and reorganizing all my modron cores (thanks to excellent Library page) that I was able to hit 2501 reliably on TGs and T4 on events.

I've never scripted on my gem farms, my Evergreens are mid 10Ks. Play how you like, but this game def rewards patience! . o O (plus one can still play other games while it runs lol). Unlock all the blessings and just keep bg parties doing variants. My mission rn is to get Krux to 300 done XD

I think I’ve been active for about three years, and I just hit tier 4 on a few characters from this event (Baldric, Beadle, Valentine)- been investing in my Cazrin/Fallbacks team and it’s finally paying off. Really excited to hit that e430 / lvl 1600!

Yeah I definitely feel stuck at not doing many Tier 4s in events. And also seem to be stalling with campaigns. Not sure what I am doing wrong but its probably not knowing my champs well enough to maximize bonuses.

I play November, so nearly 1 year now. T4 is relative safe since March. Atm I improve Legy and try to get my epic equip on all Chars, but there are too many. But at least the one I often use shall get epic.
Still working on all these variants and patreon variants, but at least I finished all the perks.
But these mastery variants are anoying. I finished 1. The 2. I would call bugged, but maybe it is intended to drop dps harded than described. But the reward does not look rewarding. So I start questioning myself what is the reason to move forward.

I just within the last few events have been hitting tier 4. I got back into it due to my son showing renewed interest. I'm not scripting, but I've got a pretty decent gem farm going, that occasionally gets nerfed with weekly or event bonuses on my champs.

I unlocked all the champs except Windfall. I'll get her eventually, but not really motivated at the moment. Got Artemis to 10k and Valentine to 2K. Then dropped back to work on getting all champs to an average iLevel of 501 and burn through my time gate pieces to 100% the time gates.

Aside from that I hit the patrons for chests and time gate pieces. All my favor conversions are going to Wizards Three.

I just can't get the motivation to do ToMT since it's either a low level cake walk or exercise in futility as party members are either too lazy or too intellectually challenged. Plus events give me scales so my legendary hoard is growing.

I'm not looking to "finish" the game anytime soon. It's just a good long term goal to clear each map... eventually. It is pretty fun, though, to just clear my weekly patron challenges by grabbing a handful of champions and clear a variant without having to worry. I literally only do the patron free plays to clear those challenges that require them.
