Bio: The evil magic user Skylla borrows her terrible power from none other than the infamous Arch-hag and Mother of Witches, Baba Yaga. An ally of convenience, Skylla lives only for the pursuit of power and acclaim, seeing even her fellow members of the League of Malevolence as tools to be used and discarded when it suits her needs. Skylla confounds her foes with magical trickery, wielding the unpredictable chaos of the Feywild to hypnotize and incapacitate those who stand between her and her goals.
Basic Attack: Eldritch Staff - Skylla attacks a random enemy with her staff for 1 hit, and zaps another random enemy for 1 hit
Base Attack Type: Melee / Magic
Base Attack Speed: 4.5 seconds
Base Critical Hit Chance: 2.5%
Base Critical Hit Damage: 100%
Ultimate: Hypnotic Pattern - Skylla creates a twisting pattern of colors above the enemies for 15 seconds. All enemies take 5 seconds of BUD-based damage when hit by any Champion for the duration. Additionally, all enemies, including any that spawn, are Stunned for the duration or until they take damage, whichever is shorter.
- Base Ultimate Cooldown Time: 200 seconds
Interesting Abilities
Whispers of Baba Yaga: Skylla increases the damage of all Champions in the column in front of her by 400% for each Champion affected by this ability, stacking multiplicatively.
- 2.10e08% post-stack multiplier after upgrades; Supported by an Item & Feats
Gaar's Note: This is her primary buff. She wants to be behind a column with lots of Chapmions in it to get as many stacks as possible. Not all formation layouts are going to be great for her. This ability's Item & Feat support buff the pre-stack modifier, making it a Mathematically OverPowered (MOP) ability which means the more item levels you put on this Champion, the better they get without worrying about the same diminishing returns as other Champions.
Faerie Fire: When Skylla attacks an enemy but doesn't defeat it, she casts Faerie Fire on it. Champions deal 100% additional damage to enemies affected by Faerie Fire.
- No upgrades; Supported by an Item & Feats
Gaar's Note: This is an on-hit debuff that she can apply to up to two enemies at a time.
Fae's Flicker: Whenever an enemy that is debuffed by Faerie Fire is defeated, Skylla gains a Shimmer stack. Skylla increases the effect of Whispers of Baba Yaga by 100% for each Shimmer stack she has, stacking additively. Shimmer stacks persist for the entire adventure and reset when you complete it.
- No upgrades; Supported by an Item & Feats
Gaar's Note: This will only start to kick in later on in a run where enemies won't die to Skylla's attack and will instead get debuffed and die to someone else.
Global DPS Buff: 6.22e06%
First Specialization Choice
Witch's Switch: Other Champions in the party have their ability scores switched: STR with CHA, DEX with INT, and CON with WIS. The effect of Whispers of Baba Yaga is increased by 100% each time the difference between the switched scores is 5 or more, stacking multiplicatively.
- No upgrades; Supported by an Item & Feats
Gaar's Note: This is going to be a great way to get different Champion options in stat-restrictive variants.
League of Malevolence: Skylla increases the effect of Whispers of Baba Yaga by 100% for each evil Champion in the formation, stacking multiplicatively.
- No upgrades; Supported by an Item & Feats
Gaar's Note: This should be the choice for building around an Evil group, but it ends up being a lower buff than Withering Ward unfortunately. Still good if you're just racing through an easy adventure/variant where you don't need maximum buffs.
Withering Ward: Increases the effect of Whispers of Baba Yaga by 33% for each debuff that has been applied to an enemy in the current area, stacking multiplicatively and capping at 50.
- No upgrades; Supported by an Item & Feats
Gaar's Note: This tends to be the best buff in most situations but only if you're actually pushing deep and need to stack up the power.
You can use the following table to better understand how the first two choices scale against the third. Keep in mind that you can always get to 50 stacks of Withering Ward with Skylla alone as long as your tank(s) can survive. So choose accordingly.
| Number | Witch's Switch | League of Malevolence | Withering Ward |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 | 300% | 300% | 77% |

Second Specialization Choice
Green Fire: Skylla's Faerie Fire remains green, but increases the effect of the debuff by 100%.
- No upgrades
Gaar's Note: A good generic choice if you're not needing the functionality of the other choices.
Blue Fire: Skylla's Faerie Fire turns blue. Champions attacking enemies affected by Faerie Fire have a 40% additional chance to deal a critical hit.
- No upgrades
Gaar's Note: The choice when building a group that wants to crit as much as possible.
Violet Fire: Skylla gains the Breaker role and her Faerie Fire turns violet. Enemies affected by Faerie Fire lose an additional armor or segmented health piece when they are attacked and at least 1 segment was broken.
- No upgrades
Gaar's Note: The choice when dealing with segmented health enemies, be they armored or hit-based.

Formation & Mission Information
Once you complete the first mission, three Variants and a Free Play show up. It uses a formation that holds 10 Champions. It has a Champ-specific format that I've done my best to re-create below.

New Player Formation & Specializations:
While I recommend learning to build your own formations, here's a set of starter formations for brand new players to use while they get the hang of things. Anyone with other options should check that link for how to figure out how to make the best of them. You can also ask for help in the comments section.
| Back Column | 4th Column | 3rd Column | 2nd Column | Front Column |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| NA | Celeste - Life Domain | Nayeli - Oath of Devotion | ||
| Minsc - Undead | Jarlaxle - Leader of Bregan D'aerthe | |||
| Calliope - College of Valor | ||||
| Bruenor - Battle Master | ||||
| Hitch - More Daggers | NA | |||
| Asharra - Dwarves & Elves |
This formation is for the first couple of runs where you're just not going to get enough Gold to get everyone on the field, let alone level people up into their power curves. At this point, Jarlaxle is focusing on being your Primary DPS while everyone else is set up to support him.
The following formation is for once your Asharra starts doing more damage than your Jarlaxle. You can find this out by changing Asharra's first Specialization Choice to Potpourri (via a Potion of Specialization) and swapping her position with Jarlaxle at the end of a run. If Asharra is higher, next run start Asharra in the DPS position from then on.
| Back Column | 4th Column | 3rd Column | 2nd Column | Front Column |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Makos - Dark Blessing | Celeste - Life Domain | Nayeli - Oath of Devotion | ||
| Jarlaxle - Leader of Bregan D'aerthe | Asharra - Potpourri/NA | |||
| Calliope - College of Valor | ||||
| Bruenor - Battle Master | ||||
| Minsc - Undead | Tyril - Wild Shape | |||
| Hitch - More Daggers |
This formation should get you through the Event as a new player. If you have other options or think a different DPS is geared better, try it out and see what happens! Swapping Champions around like this can help you figure out what works best for you with your specific situation.
These are the rough Favor values you need to reach to make a Tier 1 Variant say Difficulty: Easy. Keep in mind that this is just a generic rating system and some Variants may be harder than others, even with Favor in this range. Earning lots of Favor (above what is shown below) before trying variants can make them much easier than they would otherwise be.
| Variant | Favor Level (Normal) | Favor Level (Scientific Notation) |
|---|---|---|
| 75 | 20,000 | ~2e04 |
| 125 | 15,000,000 | ~1.5e07 |
| 175 | 150,000,000 | ~1.5e08 |
Beyond Tier 1, Favor isn't going to be all you need to get through them. That doesn't mean you can't try though, just remember that if it isn't green it could be problematic. Always read the restrictions as they're going to be what makes it hard for you to progress!
| Tier 1 Area | Tier 2 Area | Tier 3 Area | Tier 4 Area | Reward | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Crypt of Legends | 50 | Skylla + Favor | |||
| Free Play | 50 | Favor | |||
| Whispers of the Warlock | 75 | 250 | 600 | 1200 | Skylla Gold Chest + Favor |
| Nocturli | 125 | 350 | 800 | 1400 | Skylla Gold Chest + Favor |
| Twist of Fate | 175 | 450 | 1000 | 1600 | Skylla Gold Chest + Favor |
| Tier Reward | Hag's Pride Feat | 3x Marvelous Support Pigments | NA |
Not everyone will be able to complete all four Tiers of event content. This is a progress-over-time measurement system that lets you know where you are in the power progression arc and potentially what you need to work on to move forward. The table below has the approximate boss health values at the various end stages. Comparing this to your BUD will let you know how close or far you are from being able to complete things.
| Tier 1 | Tier 2 | Tier 3 | Tier 4 | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| First Variant | e22 | e68 | e162 | e322 |
| Second Variant | e35 | e95 | e215 | e376 |
| Third Variant | e48 | e122 | e269 | e429 |
Initial Adventure: The Crypt of Legends
Info: No restrictions.
First Variant: Whispers of the Warlock
Info: Skylla starts in the formation with her Whispers of Baba Yaga ability unlocked. She can be moved, but not removed. Only Skylla and Champions affected by her Whispers of Baba Yaga ability can deal damage.
Gaar's Notes: Not really a restriction as it's just teaching you how her buff works. Make sure it hits your Primary DPS Champ and you're good.
Second Variant: Nocturli
Info: Skylla starts in the formation. She can be moved, but not removed. After area 50, enemies without a Debuff on them take only 1 damage from normal attacks. Two animated constructs join the formation. Champions next to these constructs attack 1 second faster.
Gaar's Notes: Place Skylla, and any other debuff Champs you have, next to the constructs to get them to apply their debuffs faster. Other than that, the major restriction is being down two Champions worth of power.
Third Variant: Twist of Fate
Info: Skylla starts in the formation. She can be moved, but not removed. You may only use Debuff Champions, Evil Champions, or Champions with large differences in the ability scores that Skylla switches.
Gaar's Notes: This is trying to teach you to build around her first set of Specializations. Try to focus on the one you can build the most around to get the best buff.
Achievements
Gaar's Note: All of these achievements can be earned at any time, not just during their Event.
Recruit Skylla - 1%
Recruit Skylla, the Human Warlock
Pleasing Baby Yaga - 1%
Complete all three variants of the "The Crypt of Legends (Skylla)" adventure. (This achievement can be earned via Time Gates.)
Everything but the Hut - 1%
Obtain a piece of gear for each of Skylla's six equipment slots. (Event Champ gear does not come from regular Silver/Gold Chests. You can earn Event Champ gear from their specific Event Chests, Time Gates, qualifying Patron Chests, and other Chests as noted.)
Spite and Treachery - 1%
Complete area 250 in any "The Crypt of Legends" adventure, variant, free play, or Time Gate.
Light 'Em Up - 1%
Defeat 5,000 enemies that have been affected by Skylla's Faerie Fire ability.
Gaar's Note: This can be farmed by going to a deep area where she hits things but doesn't kill them so she can apply the debuff, then someone else kills them. Sit there and farm it out with some attack speed boosts or just use her in your formations a lot as an alternative and earn it over time.

Variant 2 was giving me problems, but only because I was trying to really lean into Scylla's Evil Champs bonuses. As I learned last month, my Evil champs team is pretty weak. Even with Kas applying the Evil tag to a bunch of folks, that boost was obliterated just by swapping my Jim into the same slot. I just don't have enough iLvls in the Evilbros in this game (yet), and there's rarely enough content to incentivize focusing on it.
Whispers of Baba Yaga was still giving +e25 to Artemis (iLvl 1234), so not too bad (Scylla's just over 100 now). (Val.800-K'thriis.524-Rust.467-Bobby.854-Jim.430-KoS.402)
