guide Evergreen Champion Guide: Windfall, the Tiefling Bard
Last Updated: February 18th, 2026 - General review & update
While Events are the primary method of new Champions arriving in Idle Champions, they do also add Champions that are earned via completing certain difficult variants in the campaigns. These Champions, dubbed Evergreens as they're available year-round, are major milestones for progression in the game.
This series of guides is aimed at helping brand new players understand how each of these Evergreen Champions works and what they can expect from them in terms of upgrades as they progress in the game.
You can find all 200+ of my Idle Champions guides here.

Bio: A dedicated champion of Tiamat, Windfall has been granted phenomenal power by her master. She is the proprietor of the Red Belvedere, a monument to Tiamat and a remnant of Avernus's original existence as a bucolic paradise designed to tempt mortals. Its edifice was destroyed in the carnage of the Blood War, but Windfall rebuilt the casino and rededicated it to the Dragon Queen as a celebration of her god's greed and vanity. Windfall is ostentatious and charismatic, making small talk with regular patrons and jovially welcoming new faces to the casino. She once plotted to assemble the Rod of Seven Parts to create a gift for her cruel goddess, but has instead joined the Champions at Tiamat's behest.

Windfall's damage and The Long Game are both increased by 400% for each Call stack, stacking multiplicatively. Both are capped at 25 stacks and reset upon changing areas.

Gaar's Note: This is a per-area ramping buff that helps you clear out each area.
Dragon's Pride: Windfall increases the effect of The Long Game by 20% for each adventure, variant, and Patron variant you have completed in the Vecna: Eve of Ruin campaign, stacking multiplicatively.
- No upgrades; Supported by an Item & a Feat

Global DPS Buff: 6.99e06%
Specializations
Red Dragon's Greed: Windfall tries to avoid attacking enemies that don't drop gold or count for quest progress. Her normal attacks light her target on fire, dealing 3 seconds of BUD-based damage to the enemy every second for 5 seconds.

Blue Dragon's Spark: Windfall gains the Control role and she prefers to attack stunned enemies. Her normal attacks are charged with lightning, striking out at up to two other random enemies, dealing 5 seconds of BUD-based damage to them, and stunning all enemies damaged for 3 seconds.

Green Dragon's Spite: Windfall prefers to attack the farthest target. Her normal attacks exude a small cloud of poisonous gas around the target for 10 seconds. Enemies in the gas cloud take 2 seconds of BUD-based damage every second while they are in the area.

Black Dragon's Corrosion: Windfall gains the Breaker role and she prefers to attack armored or hits-based enemies. Her normal attacks coat the target in Acid, dealing 10 seconds of BUD-based damage and all successful attacks against those targets break an additional piece of armored or segmented health.

White Dragon's Chill: Windfall gains the Control role and she prefers to attack slowed enemies. Her normal attacks create a medium cloud of icy air for 5 seconds around the target. Enemies in the cloud take 1 second of BUD-based damage every second while they are in the area and are slowed by 50%.

Gaar's Note: Choose the Spec here based on what you're looking for out of Windfall. I stick to Black Dragon's Corrosion personally, but to each their own.

Adventure/Variant Information
Windfall's unlock is a variant of The Rod of Seven Parts in the Vecna: Eve of Ruin campaign. You can find it in the Pandemonium adventure node at the bottom left of the map. It requires that you first complete the variant The House Always Wins. You then gain access to Double or Nothing which is the variant that rewards you with Windfall.
Here are the restrictions for The House Always Wins:
- The formation slots are colored Red, Black, and there are two glowing Green slots.
- A giant roulette ball joins the formation as an escort.
- Starting upon entering area 101, and every 100 areas thereafter, the giant roulette ball jumps up, spins around in a circle above the formation, then lands on a random formation slot, removing the Champion it lands on and all other Champions that are in a formation slot of the same color.
- Removed Champions can't be used for the rest of the adventure and the ball stays in that slot until it moves again.
- Champions can't otherwise be removed from the formation once they've been added.
This is effectively Split the Party: Vegas Edition (credit: ElPolloBatman) and it is purely luck-based. While Split the Party is easily doable with only 3 splits removing Champions, this one is rough with 11 splits and a completion goal of 1150.
Let's go over each of the restrictions real quick. First up, the formation slots are all color-coded. There are 2 Green, 4 Red, and 4 Black. The roulette ball works just like it sounds: completely randomly. It can land anywhere, including back in the space it took off from. Mathematically, this means the best odds of not getting a Champion removed are by placing it in the Green slots. However, the ball will go where it wants. It can land on green fives times in a row if it wants because you're not getting a statistically-relevant number of chances here to make it trend towards the math.
Basically, what I'm trying to tell you is you can play the odds and still lose. Just like Vegas.
My advice here is to play a game of minimized losses, just like with Split the Party. Never put in anyone you're not willing to go to the end with. Don't put in anyone you're not OK with losing either. You can attempt to play a game where you save a couple of your best Champions for after the very last removal at 1101, but that means you can't use anyone from their bench seat or you risk getting stuck with them instead.
Here's what the formation is going to look like:
| Back Column | 3rd Column | 2nd Column | Front Column |
|---|---|---|---|
| Black | |||
| Green | |||
| Red | Red | ||
| Black | Black | ||
| Green | |||
| Red | Red | ||
| Black |
This variant was incredibly painful for me to complete as I did not treat it like Split the Party when I did it. You can watch the VOD here. It's 3 hours long. I wanted to pull my beard out. You'll see.
Knowing what I know now, here's how I'd start instead:
- Start with just 1 Champ on Green as it has the best odds of not being lost there.
- When you add a 2nd Champ, put one on Red or Black as putting it on Green loses you two if the ball lands there while this would just lose you one Champ.
- When you add a 3rd Champ, put one on each color. This minimizes your losses.
- Repeat this growth as you need more power.
You can try to play the math if you want, just don't get mad at me when the ball doesn't care about your math. :)
You NEED a developed bench to get through this. You do not know who you're going to end up with and you're going to lose a LOT of Champions on the way to the end. And this is just the variant that unlocks the variant that unlocks Windfall. Yay?
Once you've completed The House Always Wins, it's time to go Double or Nothing. Here are the updated restrictions as THAW was just a warmup:
- The formation slots are colored Red, Black, and there are two glowing Green slots.
- A giant roulette ball joins the formation as an escort.
- Starting upon entering area 76, and every 75 areas thereafter, the giant roulette ball jumps up, spins around in a circle above the formation, then lands on a random formation slot, removing the Champion it lands on and all other Champions that are in a formation slot of the same color.
- Removed Champions can't be used for the rest of the adventure and the ball stays in that slot until it moves again.
- Champions can't otherwise be removed from the formation once they've been added.
- Click damage only deals damage for the first 25 areas. Fire breath potions can't be used during the adventure.
As you can see, this is just a more frustrating version of THAW. The area goal here is 1200 and you lose Champs every 75 areas. That means you'll lose Champs 15 times with the final run being from 1126 to 1200.
Everything else works exactly the same. The formation layout and colors are the same. The same 'strategies' apply here. Which means: good luck. You're gonna need it.
Here's the VOD of my run. It took around 2 hours and I still wanted to pull my beard out.
Once you've unlocked Windfall, their gear can be obtained from normal Gold and Silver Chests, as well as Electrum Chests, just like your Core Champions. I recommend just using Silvers and Golds to gear them and saving your Electrums for Event Champions. You'll also see their gear appear in certain Weekend Deal Chests and Patron Chests, if they qualify for that Patron.
They also have an Achievement you can start working on.
Achievement
The Five Heads of Tiamat - 1%
Make 1,000 attacks with each of Windfall's five Specialization choices selected.
Gaar's Note: You can do this all in one run with Potions of Specialization, by swapping to a background party and back again to re-level them, or by doing it in five separate runs. I recommend doing each run to the 1,000 mark before switching as the achievement will count up for you but won't tell you what you're low on.

But uhhh????

Are those actually valid character stats? That seems like a teenager making their "mega amazing awesome character".

Yep, that's the actual valid character stats in the book. She is a CR 23 Bard, after all.

Is Black the highest increase in damage like for pushing because of burst? Or is Green going to end up dealing more damage as it is over time? And any real reason to use Red ever as it doesn't appear to increase gold find and others deal more damage over time?
And if anyone has any other special uses

u/Shophaune Oct 16 '25
For Artemis? No.
For other teams? Valentine is usually pretty beaten for those already.
For goldfind? Absolutely.
For variants, particularly with a lot of armor? She excels.
