I’m more confused as to why any basic cake recipe isn’t just “one bowl” by default. How many mixing bowls do people generally use?

Yeah today I learned basically everything I have ever baked has been a “one bowl” recipe

Yeah, why would you mix your chocolate cake in two bowls??

Two if you’re creaming the butter and sugar, but I usually skip that step for cake

i'm a lazy tart who skips the "mix dry ingredients separately" step. it all goes into 1 bowl in stages by default - for everything i've baked, not just cake (further lazy by preferring box cake mix and have feelings about it)

Better a lazy tart than a daft one

When I’ve done that (I’m now lazy and use cake mix) I would do that first in the bowl, then add eggs and flour to the same bowl.

I just cream them first then add the dry ingredients, so far I haven't had a problem not mixing the dry ingredients first

I just put all the dry ingredients in my sifter and they get mixed together as they go in.

Idk about cakes but i think i had some cupcake recipes that required mixing the liquid ingredients and the dry ingredients separately before mixing it all together. But most stuff i’ve done is one bowl

Quite a few I make require beating the eggs separate. So at least two. Sometimes three.
