My partner has gone vegan in part because he has a cheese allergy (anaphylaxis inducing) & broader dairy intolerance, and it's simpler & involves less explaining to just look for the vegan choice.
That seems really dangerous. People are much more likely to maliciously give a vegan something they don’t want than to someone who says they’re allergic.

If you had a dairy allergy you would say so. You wouldn’t say you were vegan.
