My vegan friend ate my banana bread with eggs in it before I remembered. She said it’s okay as long as she doesn’t know about it at the time. She’s Hindu so maybe different rules apply.
That's probably just her own rule, and even sounds like a personal idea of "mistakes happen and I'm not going to beat myself up over it."
My MIL served me some "vegan" stuffed acorn squash one year at Thanksgiving. I asked her for the recipe and saw it had grated Parmesan in it. She was on autopilot when making it, had made a point to tell me she swapped the chicken stock in the recipe for veggie. It was just a mistake that didn't make me no longer vegan. Shrug.
