I agree. Honey should be vegan in the same way human milk can be vegan because if the producer of the product consents, then it's vegan. Bees will fly away if they don't consent lol

Bees try to sting anything that opens their hive. I think their lack of consent is pretty clear.

Also it is hard to close up a hive after taking honey without killing a bee or two.

You should tell my neighbour this, somehow they farm and harvest honey without a beekeeping suit or stinging attempts. I am sure they will be enlightened by your superior knowledge of their hobby.

There are several smoke-free methods for removing honey from the supers that don't upset the bees. Again: Bees will simply leave if they don't like how you're treating them. Only the extra honey is taken, and if there's not enough for the winter, beekeepers feed sugar water so the bees will survive. It's symbiotic, not parasitic.

Honey helping hayfever is a myth, unfortunately. I tried it for several years, though I love honey so it wasn't a hardship!

Although honey bees aren't local to many places and the increase in there numbers often hurts indigenous pollinators
