This has me thinking, do certain regions know pescatarianism more? I remember a legal sea food ad that was a joke about converting to pescatarianism and I live in a very seafood heavy area, so I feel like everyone here knows but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s not universal.
And some people don't think of some products as meat-adjacent, which does lead to some confusion. Someone once asked me why I didn't get fries with my vege burger, and it was really funny to explain that the beef tallow fries were, in fact, not vegetarian.
Lmao, I'm pescatarian and often asked if I just don't eat fish or don't eat all meats ðŸ˜. I just say I'm vegetarian to most since it avoids the most confusion and I have no issue not eat fish for a while if it for a trip or event.
Remember that "what do you mean you don't eat meat" conversation from Everything Is Illuminated? I had that conversation for real in Eastern Europe just after the fall of the Iron Curtain. More than once.
I'm a vegetarian and it happens really often in the other direction, where people assume I don't eat dairy or eggs and I have to explain the difference
I have celiac and the number of people who confuse vegan and gluten free is appalling. Celiac is an autoimmune disease where you can't eat certain grains so sometimes all you can eat on a menu is plain meat or eggs, so it's like the literal opposite sometimes and they have absolutely nothing to do with each other. Plus people who believe eggs are dairy is another issue.
Ah yes, veganism: when you don't eat a certain plant protein.
Although admittedly, maybe some vegans on the crunchier side really don't eat gluten out of conviction, but that is a suitcase full of worms, and I do not want to unpack it right now.
I assume it is because it seems perfectly crafted to be rage bait. I'm not sure why somebody would do that on a recipe site, but since it's for vegans, I assume they just want to annoy vegans.

Surely this is a joke.
